Engine cover sits too high
Is there a way to adjust the engine cover so it sits lower? I had my cylinder head replaced last year and now I have to push down on the cover to open the oil cap.

Take it off by pulling up, bend the metal tabs with the rubber grommets that hold it onto the engine. Put back on.

they're out) but if you just pull, your valve cover will most likely break.

Really? I have to turn the screws when I take it off of my 330. Maybe it has something to do with production date because we all have 06's

You're referring to the silver plastic engine cover? The scres on mine are more of a rivet and have nothing to do with the underlying metal bracket with rubber grommets.
Im an early 06 330i. US |

I am referring to the silver plastic engine cover. I have huge torx screws on mine that require a half turn to pop off. I believe it locks the cover between the rubber grommet and the metal bracket. I have a 5/06 330i also US.

Now that I think about it I think I do have those screws, but have literally never turned them. I have always just pulled up and out with the whole cover. But to solve the original issue, I would say take it off either way, and bend the brack so it sits lower to the engine.

I have the same silver valve cover the screws
just hold the plastic cover to the rubber mounted frame. You do not have to touch them. Just pull up on cover. |
