Doesn't have the right canopy to be an F-16

F-18's have a double tail, so it can't be that either.

That is absolutely not an F15. Those things have a double tail as well and definitely the wrong shape. Perhaps that's what they normally use but in this case I do believe it's the T-38 Talon.

T-38 makes sense because at first glance it looks like a mig

NASA uses them as chase aircraft when the Shuttle is piggybacking on the 747.

Flew by a few times, I want to add- these are a few of many pics taken by coworkers and I. Yes, shuttle was being transported to Dulles Air and Space Museum for retirement. I will post a vid later- kind of shty quality since it's from my iphone.

Agreed.

I was about 14 years old and my summer baseball team was in Cocoa Beach, FL for the AAU National Championship tourney. We happened to be off one day and were all in the ocean goofing around when there was a shuttle takeoff. I remember it vividly to this day. You could feel the ocean floor shaking and the whole process lasted what felt like 30 minutes, prolly more like 10. I remember the boosters falling off and watching them crash back to the ocean. It was an incredible thing to see.

Very cool. I think it's interesting that we seem to be going back to our roots with retiring shuttles and going back to rockets.

As a person in the aerospace industry and contributor to the Orion project seen first hand the detail that goes into making such a flight possible. Would like to see one some day.
