Talking Remapp done!

The remapp was completed yesterday by CA Automotive.
I took pictures throughout the process which ill add to the post later.

I ve only driven about 15 miles after the remapp last night, and have been told it will become faster as the engine self adjusts to the remap. This was also told by DMS when a freind remapped his RS6/X5.

First impessions miles more grunt. the kick in the back is now extrmley firm the traction control can be made to flash between 30-50 when you boot it out of a slow corner. The driving style is still similar ie very smooth but when you boot it you get more savagery and the power does seem quite relentless. It seems to rev quicker there is sooooo much more torque. it relly does feel 20-30% faster.

before the remapp i did a very unscientific 0-60 test of about 6secs i repeated the test last night and now it down to 5 secs. it was the same friend in the car with the same stopwatch i know reaction time will vary but it does seem a second faster to 60. however as you'll gather from what ive already written the biggest improvement is in gears, simply put your foot down and the car just fucks off down the road mint!!

Whats it done to fuel consumption? i dont know yet ive not done enough miles all i can report is that after a 15mile razz last night it didnt budge from 26.6mpg. ( ive been doing almost exclusivley town driving for the last 1000 miles)

For 525 quid i dont think you can go wrong!!!!!!

Simon was quick polite informative throughout the proicess and would like to thank him and CA for the condierable gains.

Would defo recommend

I've just averaged 33mpg on a full tank with the DMS remap. That was mainly hard driving with a mix of town and B road. If i take it steady im getting 37.6mpg but the car doesn't dip below 30mpg for me.

Congrats Steve. I got mine done by one of Simon's agents here in NI on Tuesday past.
I too find the car more powerful without loosing the smoothness. It now has serious kick-in-the-back when you floor it.
Like you, I find the traction control light coming on sometimes, but it does not seem to kill the power as much as it did in my E46. I suppose it is just a more advanced system. God help the RFT's

The only minor niggle I can find so far is that sometimes when moving in slow traffic (5-10mph) with low revs, the auto gear change is slightly more 'shunty' - perhaps because of the extra torque ???

Nice one Steve ,keep us posted on how you get on with it.
I can't get more than 30mpg even on a run, must be connected to the traction light cos that flickers a lot on mine also, in "standard" tune

hooligan

How about this
last night I was meeting a mate at 7:30pm ..but its 80 miles of motorway and dual cabbageway away and left, filled up just before 6pm got a almost call straight away to say its now 8pm. Motorway was clear so I trundled along at a steady 65-70 mph still got there early but the fuel consumption read 47 MPG..

Anyway I'm keen to get the remap done so it will stop me slumbering along

Ive driven about 80 miles today and the mpg is still 26.6.

On a long motoway run i got 40mpg in the first week of ownership.

BMWs urban mpg is 27mpg so i think its pretty good.

Any way onto the power. Today i went a bit quicker (alledgedly your honour) than i should of, i immediatley slowed down.....the mrs was goating me in the c32........all i can say is its now a match for the c32 which is an M3 killer........im very very happy with the mod its a very subtle supercar, in the real world sense.

Congrats and glad to start to hear of people tuning the E90 335d rather than e92... I guess if its same engine then maybe no difference but in any case its nice to hear of some more 335ds being tuned...will watch with interest to see how you get on with it.

I'm not asking anyone to say if they have / haven't, but what difference have people who HAVE informed their insurers found this mod has made to their premiums?

Had my 335d touring done last week by Simon. Big grin. The shove between 2,500 and 3,500 is immense.

And Yes I did tell my insurance co. Was with Direct line, who wanted £150 extra. Called A-Line, Who not only bettered my original Direct line premium, covered the re-map as well.

Seeing as it cost me no extra it seemed a complete no brainer, peace of mind thing to get sorted.

Regards

Jonh

As i've owned both i feel i can make that statement. the c32 in a straight line is MUCH faster than an M3(e46)

Congrats! Your 0-60 figures tally with my experience: down from about 6.8 pre-remap to 6 dead after. I can't wait until BMW finally launch a V8 340d so we can remap that and reach 1000Nm

A V8 diesel would probably be too heavy and upset the handling of such a 'small' car, but who knows? Maybe in a few years?

Have you had them side by side, AMG Mercs feel faster than they are, due to all the torque. The M3 hasnt got much torque in comparison hence wont Feel as fast but im sure side by side there wouldnt be much in it. Just the same as a diesel feels faster than a petrol equivalant but ina straight line but are actually not.

Oh and when you get to a corner then the Merc is left for dead. But i do conceed its good for drifting and leaving black lines everywhere.

Not owned both but driven both.

the c32 has been timed at 4.6 secs to 60 and 10.8 to 100 that is faster then a e46 m3 0-60 4.8 0-100 11.5. but where the merc is faster is in gear, its torque helps it pull ahead, and as for being left for dead in the corners thats down to the driver i think.

the e46 is the better tool for drifting as its got the M-diff. your right though disengage the TC in the c32 and the black lines can become a little long:rocks:

i loved the e46m3 it was the smg version and it was the nuts. i ve raced many on the road and always beat them when i was driving the c32.

Just to add alittle point about the 335d. i gave a lift to a mate of mine at the weekend to pick up a csl, 3 yrs old 900 miles on the clock, (that is not a mistype) and granted the csl isnt run in propperly but the 335d in a striaght line had the measure of it, the guys called jonathanturner and hes on the bm3w.co.uk site, ask him if you want

however the sound that the csl made was utterley spine tingleingly amazingly awesome and i want one

totally beleive you steve, a re-mapped 335d would have the measure of a csl in a straight line:rocks::rocks:
