A cheap man's Blacklines
Why hello there everybody
I've been thinking lately. "You know, I really want blacklines, i hate tinted taillights, but I don't want to spend $200+" Then I had an idea. Has anyone ever just peeled off the lens of the taillights and created their own blacklines with tint, tint spray, or some other product? You can peel off the healight lens with a lot of heat, so why not the taillights? Am I gonna have to be the guinea pig?

I can say this is creative. Never heard of it, but the depo Blacklines are like 240 brand new I think, but there are always BMW and depo used sets for sale. I got my BMW ones cheap, I don't think it's worth it cracking open the oem.
PS. What about the upper part of the outside lens that is red. It is clear on the Blacklines |

there is a DIY on "boiling" open the headlights and spraying them :
And as stated above, there's usually some blacklines for sale in the classifieds for way cheap. |

That's the part I don't understand, considering that's the point of blacklines.

I always have more fun coming up with my own creations for half the price. There's a lot more satasfaction to it than just buying it.
I completely forgot about the "boiling" DIY. But I never really understood the DIY either. You spray the whole unit chrome? Something just doesn't sound right, but boiling the lens off is a great idea

Umm...the red in the tail lights is because the plastic is actually red plastic. It's not something you can boil off.

Just buy a set of used OEM blacklines off the forum. I picked up a set for $140 a few years ago. Much cheaper then buying new, and less hassle then trying to tint them yourself. And they are just tail lights, so even used they should be in decent condition.
