5mm spacer question
Hi guys,
Has anyone here tried 5mm spacers on the rear of a prelci e90? Is there room left for the rim to sit on the hubcentric ring? Thanks in advance for any help

Factory hub can be up to 11mm long so if you are using 5mm spacers - there should be around 5-6mm of the hub remaining sticking past spacer

How can a 5mm spacer have a hub-centric ring - the hub lip is (as said) like 10/11mm, so unless you have a spacer which is thicker than the hub (i.e. 12mm spacer?) then how can it be hub-centric?
I saw a 5mm spacer on an e90 right before the wheel was offered up, what I saw of how much hub lip was left worried me, some wheels are chamfered for about 3-4mm before reducing to the final hub bore size (I know my Jade R's are) , so that could leave very little lip for location. |

The H&R website shows specific spacers for any model if you use the model selector. On the E9x 3mm and 5mm spacer, it says: Quote:
![]() The only thing I could see being on a 5mm spacer for a BMW is a very shallow bevelled edge for alloy wheels with a chamfer to them. Thats not to say I have ever seen this, I'm just saying that I can't see how any 5mm spacer can have a full hubcentric ring if the spacer is thinner than the car's own hub lip ![]() If your 5mm H&R spacers have a hubcentric lip on them, can you get a photo? |

^ hahahah yea my mistake once again
For some reason my mind is set off that h and r started the groove from 5mm and up. Maybe its because I stared at my spacer thinking that its 5mm. |

> And quote right from Turner page on 5mm spacers:
'5mm = .2"; 72.5mm center bore. H&R Hubcentric wheel spacers (pair). Fits over the stock BMW hub lip. The factory lip remains with about 5-6mm left over for the wheel to rest on*. Made in Germany and TUV approved. Longer wheel bolts are required - available in bright silver or black. *5mm Spacers require you have a flush mounting surface on your wheels. Wheels with a beveled mounting surface are not compatible with these spacers. If you have beveled wheels and wish to run a 5mm spacer on the front, you can use the TMS Hub Extender kit (front only!) See link below.' > And the Hub Extenders that they reference state: 'These are for the front hubs and DO NOT FIT E46 Xi, E39 5 series, E90/E92, E82/E88 1 series, or E30 4 lug' So basically, if you have a large chamfer on ID of hub locating hole of your wheels - 5mm spacers are a bad thing ![]() > And to go one step further - Turner does NOT recommend 10mm spacers either: 'A note about 10mm spacers: Any 10mm spacer is considered a custom fitment. The stock hubcentric lip on BMWs can stick out by as much as 11mm. This leaves a gap between the spacer and the hub which seriously compromises safety. We recommend using a larger spacer (12mm and larger do not have this issue) or check that the lip sticks out less than 10mm." I would think that Turner DEFINITELY knows what they are talking about, and I would take their recommendations for a spacer sized to be safe...
