Best Way For Regularly Cleaning Bird Shit?
Birds are all around my neighborhood, and they shit on my car all the time. It sucks i know, but theres nothing i can do about it.
I can't wash my car all the time because i don't have a hose. The best i can do is wipe off the bird shit with soap and water from my house, then wipe it all down with some spray wax and a microfiber towel. My question is, what kind of sponge/towel should i use to get the bird shit off? I'm really just looking for an efficient way to clean it once or twice per week without committing to a full wash. Thanks! |

Have you tried a car cover?

Got ya. I would suggest using just the spray detailer and a microfiber towel instead of the soap. I always try to remove it asap, and always have a good coat of polish and wax on your ride. I guess if your entire car was completely covered in poop, you will probably be better off using the soap and water like you have been. Just stock up on microfiber towels.

Make sure poop is saturated before wiping If dry may scratch

I do reuse the MF towels after washing Again , if it is not saturated. Poop will scratch It's a tough battle Leaving it will do damage , not taking off carefully is even more dangerous Greatest risk with darker colors Detailer spray is what I use, but I bet spray bottle with water soap would be equal As long as it's completely saturated , should come off like mud instead of sand One last thought, get a pet hawk .. Or at least an owl statue. ![]()

i wish.
i just took it off tonight using a saturated paper towel in warm water and it lifted up, then i finished with a QD and a towel. I could go the extreme route and get all these car soaps and spray bottles, but i'll probably just keep it simple with the QD spray and microfiber towels. Gunna order up some invisible glass as well to get it off my windows. I have a monaco blue coupe btw ... FMMFL |

+1, was travelling this weekend a bird got my hood. Later that evening it rained somewhat hard, and was very happy to see it completely washed off the mess. Car was polished six weeks ago, and coated with BFWD seal and PB's Wax. Still good to clean with QD and MF, but the slicker the surface, the easier the job.

I think the best thing is to have a really good sealant and wax protection on at all times.
I recently had a bird seriously bomb my hood. It sat around a day before i got to it. But i just took a spray bottle of ONR (my clay lube dilution ratio) and soaked the hell out of it. Kept spraying. Lots of it just rolle off with the liquid thanks to the wax. The rest simply lifted off to a point where i could take a mf towel and pull (not wipe) it off. Then sprayed more and dabbed dry. At this point it was clean enough to lightly wipe with another MF towel. And it was all gone. I'm thinking of keeping a small spray bottle of ONR in the car, so i can hit spots when they happen. |

I'm thinking about something like Optimum No Rinse Wash Find a concentration/dilution that works well and keep it in a trigger sprayer. |

Get one of those 1g insecticide pump sprays. Just fill it with water and spray infected panel.
Wash panel with car soap or waterless soap. During winter I used to be able to wash entire car with one of these. Now I just installed a hose in the garage and wash it there. |

I use Poorboys Spray & Wipe, but Optimum No Rinse would work just as well or better.
The key is, as said, being gentle and saturating it. If it's on a panel that's hard to keep the spray from dripping away you can also spray the microfiber and gently lay it on top to soften the bird droppings. I try not to wipe at it much, pinching as much as I can while changing the microfiber position.

Agree. Spray detailer, gently with
MF. Several sprays after to clean and treat.
