Radiator Fan functions
Hey everybody,
So about a month ago my car was producing the symptoms of a faulty water pump/thermostat. Well recently, I just found time to fix it (I've been gone on vacation). I just turned the car on for the first time in a month today and I'm running into something unusual. Pretty quickly after I turn the car on, the radiator fan kicks in. I thought this fan only went on when the water pump was dying. So I am not really sure, how does the radiator fan operate? It did sound as loud as it did when my water pump failed, but it is definitely spinning. Possible hint: I live in Oklahoma, where it is 103 degrees currently

any error codes?
My radiadtor fan kicks on after normal driving for seemingly no reasons sometimes. sounds like a rocket ship is about to take off, I know bmw's run hot but holy hell. on the same note, the heat coming from the underneath the rear of the car is almost unbearable haha. I wonder if my water pump is on its way out, I have an 08 with 60k, but 42k of that was spent in sunny sunny florida... AND of course my car is black, which doesnt help with the heat. I am taking my car to the dealer in about a month and I plan on whining for a new water pump... any tips on this? my car is covered under CPO still.

Maybe it was to power the AC. Like I said, it didn't make rocket ship volume sounds, but it was running at a lower speed.

If you have the AC on, the fan is loud especially in the hot summer. I thought mine has a problem until I walked pass an idling 328i (brand new coupe) and the fan is as loud as mine. I would say normal.
