I have a quick question about the Halogen headlights on my E90 LCI. I wanted to change the bulbs for the Halo rings. Would you guys recommend buying LED bulbs or just throwing in an HID kit? Also, what type of bulb is it?

Please don't throw on a HID kit on a halogen equiped vehicle. Everybody knows that a xenon bulbs throws out more lumens than a holgen bulb, however what most people don't know is that the reflector lines in the bowl of a halogen is totally different. Because the halogen is lower lumens, the reflector lines are designed in that it throws the light beam every where to spread light. If you put a xenon bulb, not only will it produce more light but it will also throlw light pattern everywhere, mainly onto on coming traffic...Not Good...

from what i have seen the lux is brighter for sure. the issue i have with a brighter bulb in halogen cars are as said above there is a large reflector bowl for the halogens as opposed to the projector in the xenons and the ring is placed directly in front of it. with an overly bright bulb the light from the ring gets reflected off the bowl making in hard to see the actual "ring" so IMO with the lci halogens the brightest does not = the best. too bright will make ur headlights look like a honda w hid kit.

Thanks guys. I was looking into the Lux Halogen... their a bit pricey but looks like i'll have to settle for them unless I pick up a pair of OEM Xenon lights which is what I really want

The ones for Burger are for the Xenon headlights, not the halogen headlights.

Well, the pic may not do justice to what we would actually see, as i can see the grany image and seems it was clicked at a very high ISO. probably a cell cam.
I bet its far better in person, even the OEM rings are no that bright as they seem in the pic.

BTW could you plz post the pics or your AE's ?

sure i will try and snap a few day and night pics later im at work now until 9. i wanted the lux until i found they were out of stock then i started looking for other options cause i hate waiting. the brightness isnt what mattered to me it was the yellowish crappy tint. lets be honest we dont use our angel eyes to see its purely for cosmetics. i chose the burger after comparing pics on both their sites. as for the quality of the pic on luxs site i would imagine they would try to use the best pic possible if trying to sell a product especially when there is competition. if i had xenon hands down i would go with lux. hell had they been in stock when i was looking last week i would have bought the lux anyways with out doing any research at all just because all the positive things i hear about their products.

Agreed, too many positive reviews about LUX, but as you said the wait is bad.
I am waiting to see how the buger AE looks on ur Halogen, if its good , then i'll order the same.

What you said about " ring just a blue mess" is actually not true at all. The reason angel eyes look like that sometime is due to the settings of the camera and overexposure. If there is not enough ambient light in the picture the camera will attempt to overexpose the picture to make everything else the correct brightness. This causes the angel eyes to look that way.

In person they do not look like that at all since your eyes see much better int he dark. The rings will be bright at night but by no means will they be a "blue mess" We have designed these lights so they are clearly visible but yet not overpowering at all.

Also we expect to have the LUX E90 LCI halogen in stock within about a week or so

I have to agree with this. The housing is constructed to make lighting brighter than it really is with the reflective background. If you throw in brighter bulbs it will be blinding for sure.

Now I am confused, Burgertunning says : • Brighter than OEM 3000K vs. 7000K , so are they actually 7000K ? if they are then wont they be brigher than LUX - 6500K , if Halogen housing is more reflective Burgertunning LEDs should be more problematic

Good that I read this, my friend was going to add HIDs on my LCI Halogen headlights I just installed on my pre-lci 328xi sedan 07, luckily I said no because I wanted to see how the halogens and the RacingDash 7500k Angel Eyes bulb work.

And so true about what people are saying here, but heck in order to have Xenons we really need to spend so much
