My 330xi vs. a Mercedes E350...
I was at a light and the Benz pulled up along side of me. Wasn't sure if he was going to challenge me, but I almost always launch hard at a green light. Sure enough he gunned it. We stayed pretty much even all the way to 80 mph. I noticed when I shifted, that he gained a bit, but I was able to catch back up each time. Not that exciting but I thought I'd share the story. I guess the cars are close to an even match, eh?

Somewhat. I ran a 15.03 @96 mph in the 07 E350. My issue with the E is getting traction off the line I was told my trap speed was high but my overall time was slow because of my 60 foot time being bad.
I would say a 328i vs 330i vs E350 race is a drivers race. |

The E350 has been tested at 14.6 in the 1/4 mile, its quick and smooth. When I went to the drag strip which was a spur of the moment meet up with the MB guys I had 3/4+ tank of gas and even then being the slowest benz out on the drag strip I still dominated 98% of the cars. Off the line the car really struggles, I remember a race with a fully stripped honda that was running low 14's off the line with his race tires he would grip and pull like no other but about halfway down the strip I started to pull on him and ended up with a trap speed of like 6-8 mph faster.
I have only raced 1 bmw on the street and it was an E90 325i I didnt know the guy was racing me until I heard this high pitched buzzing sound pass me and the guy slowed down to give me a thumbs up, at the next light I let him go WOT and get about a car ahead and blew past him. If anyone in the Phoenix area wants to meet up with a 330i ill race them but I think it will be a drivers race. I know for a fact with the E350 vs C350 its a driver race yet the C350 has been rated at 0-60 times in 5.5 second mark, I have also raced a 350Z in the E350 and we were dead even. |

No offense I seriosuly have to call bs on that one. I own a 350z and e350 and no way in hell is my benz faster than my Z...I can almost assure you that the Z driver you raced did not know how to drive.

Its the street a number of factors come in to play dont be a magazine racer. I lost to a SLK 350 in my old M3 once on paper I should of dusted him but my tires were old and I couldnt get traction along with the fact he power braked at each light and I had SMG and LC sucks and I couldnt use it since my tires would just spin. 350z are old E36 M3 territory, you can find the video of the 330i staying dead even with an E36 M3, 330i is E350 territory. When you get down to it its all a drivers race. Go get someone to drive your E350 and race it with your 350z. Make sure you have the E350 in standard transmission not comfort turn off ESP line them both up. The E350 doesn't feelt hat fast since the 7speed transmission along with being a quiet car. If you have the sport version it seems faster since you get an exhaust growl, I know people always think the sport is faster than the none sport just based on perception. |

first off im not a magazine racer. calm down street racer vin diesel
you raced a Z in 328 and won, ill believe the traction part...ok but seriously wake up...for you to beat the Z in your E the driver must of been in reverse or seriously did not know how to drive. a 350z can keep up with e46 m3's and many times beat them(thats a real drivers race) a Z can walk an e36 how are you going to compane a 330i to an e350- the e350 is heavier by several hundred pounds..... compare a c350 to 330i not to an e350. My e350 has the sport package and i know damn well know how fast it is(not fast at all)...but trust me it cannot take down a 350z im sure others will agree

I had an E46 M3 before my E90 and I never had a 350z even with intake and exhaust stay close to me at all, I would instantly pull and keep pulling no matter what speed most races on the street from stop light to stop light I would pull about 2 cars from 0-70ish. Its funny that you go to the 350z forum and anyone who posts a kill story of a E46 vs a stock 350z they get the BS flag, E36 M3 vs 350 is a drivers race, E46> wins unless its in reverse. I know someone that has a C350 and we went to the drag strips and I have also raced him in my 328i. Its a drivers race between the C350 and E350, C350 vs 328i the C350 pulls on me by maybe 3-4 feet from 0-80ish. He has aslo raced 350z's and G35's and tells me he is dead even with them also and has pulled on a G35. Whats a 350Z trap 98 MPH? The E350 and 328i both have identical 1/4 mile and trap speeds of 96MPH. And most 350z's are autos so you have to nock off a few tenth on the rated 0-60 time and 1/4 mile times listed online and in magazines since they are done with manuals. And for a while the 350z's didnt all have 300 HP motors, so maybe I have run into the first generations with the 270-280 hp, the first 05 350z before the 300hp motor had 0-60 times rated at 5.5 for manual and 5.8 for auto. C350 is rated at 5.5 seconds and like I have said I have raced they guy I know with the C350 at least 10 times from dead stops to rolling starts and who ever nails the gas first wins we are dead even. Yes the C350 is lighter but the reason it is slower is the different gear ratios vs the E class. |

Also I had for a while on my computer a graph with both the 3.5liter motor used in the Mercedes E350 and C350 ect and the 350z motor with 300hp. If you plot both of them you will see the Mercedes motor makes peak torque from 2,400 RPM -5,000 RPM. The 350z only makes peak torque at 4,800 RPM. So if you plot the Mercedes engine the torque goes linear up to 25X ft/lbs @ 2,400 then stays flat all the way to 5k RPM.
The 350z motor goes linear all the way up to 4,800 RPM... As the old saying goes horsepower sells cars torque wins races. |
