Obd code reader/ clearer
Need to clear a red steering lock code. It's in another thread but basically flattened the battery, replaced battery but still show steering lock malfunction and car won't do anything. So I need to clear the code, and need a obd 2 code clearer. Chap posted an option from the states but any of you guys bought a code reader?? Looked on eBay and loads of threads ranging from £13. Don't want to get a duff one. Any spec to look out for and options. Need ASAP ??

Do you have android phone?
If yes, give me a shout. I don't mind posting you my BT code reader. You can connect it to android phone and reset the errors. It should work unless your steering lock code cannot be reset by generic code reader.

I have an iPhone. ( not sure if this is android?).
Based just outside Ipswich, Suffolk. Mak- do you think a cheap coder will clear it?? Don't mind buying one as sure it will come in use in future.

PM me your address and I can post you bluetooth code reader and resetter. You will require HTC, or Samsung Android phone and download Torque application on it. For rest of the procedure, it is simple. Connect obd reader to your car, and connect it with your phone bluetooth. Open torque application, read the code and reset it. If that does not bring any luck, then one of us has to travel to you to help you.

As we are not sure that all codes can be reset with cheap obd coder reader, hence I suggested that you can borrow mine (if happy). Or if you wish, you can order any of those which you like.

NJ,have you got any BMW specialist garages nearby, one with Autologic.
If you have,it might be worth giving them a call and see if they'd come out to you, worth a call, perhaps.

Only concern is it went to them once to code rear lci lights and they wiped my remap off. Lovely guys but not to hot with the auto logic, it appears. (Think theyd just got it) Think it might be worth a call when I'm home tomorrow however.

Turn it on, hook it to your wi-fi. Download 'Torque' application (free version) from market. Once downloaded, you will be ready to play with it. For iphone, obd readers are wi-fi only.
