335d with Base audio -> Musicar NW Stage 2 Upgrade with Corner Load Subwoofer
Picked up my new-to-me 335d last week and it took a few seconds to accept that the base audio system in 2010 was beyond bad; truly it is an insult to the ears. I quickly began pouring over the forums looking for upgrade ideas and I settled on Musicar NW.
I have a 2012 MINI Cooper JCW with the Integral Audio Soundstage installation and it is a fantasticly designed and implemented system that requires very little non-reversible modifications. I wanted something similar for the new car and I think I have found it. So now I am here, waiting (im)patiently for my goodies to arrive, bookmarking every good piece of information I can find. I will be filling out this post as I get into the installation. |

There is no comparison to BSW
The MusicarNW systems are made out of audiophile name brand components.
They are not add on's to existing systems they are complete systems with matched amps , speakers and other components .(in which all speakers can be replaced) So far for the e90 BSW only makes door speakers which are improvements on the stock ones. Yes they have a subwoofer add on but nothing for the under seats that I am aware of. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641323 There are many examples of there systems in the above link along with the knowledge you need to make and intelligent decision on what to do. Well it's now been 9 days and I have not heard a word from Musicar and I am a bit concerned. A few emails and a few phone calls and no response at all.

They seem swamped. I emailed them over the weekend and I gave them a call last night. Spoke to Ken. Keep trying. They know their stuff and if I were dropping $3500 on an audio upgrade (and I am) I'd rather them be hard to get than incompetent.

Yes, it's aggravating to have to wait, and also not to get immediate replies. However, when you receive your kit and you see the quality; and you listen to the system, you'll forget all about the wait.
The real measure is to answer the question "Did I get my money's worth?". I don't know of anyone who has purchased from Ken that felt he got less than expected. Hang in there. |

I got the JL10w3 setup for my trunk from him. I did a review on it recently. It's AMAZING. I've never seen such quality and plug and play work. It's well worth the wait. I had 2 JL10's in a zenclosure box and this setup with just 1 10 actually sounds better to me.

The main question I posed was which tweeter sails are the correct ones? I have seen a few different part numbers thrown around here.
I have these options: 51337171201 51337171202 51337270891 51337270892 51337258575 51337258576 All three look to have the ability to hold tweeters. |

Hmm... still not even a note saying it was still in process, and this is after multiple emails, voicemails and now a PM and I see there have been posts made after I sent it.
I'm really concerned about this customer service.... |

Welp. That sucked. After over 3 weeks, I decided to cancel my order. They didn't get my parts, etc, etc. Going on the road for a while so I decided I should just take it as a sign and give up on this particular upgrade.

I see you're in Durham. If you ever get around Charlotte let me know. You can slide by and 'test drive' their level 1 system in my car if you're interested...

I got a hold of Ken this past week finally and the parts went out the door. They are now sitting a few hundred miles from me and UPS is saying tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Per UPS.com, those are on time and should arrive tomorrow per their 3-Day Air guarantee. I would say let me know, but I get an email as soon as you sign for them (and you do too!)
