MULF2 BT Retrofit

I have been planning on doing a BT retrofit and just recently bought a used TCU, BT Antenna, and Mic from a forum member. My car is a 2008 E92 with nav. I went into the trunk tonight to confirm that I had voice wiring already. To my surprise in the trunk I found an MULF2 hi. I guess this is a good thing, but now I am quite confused on how to proceed since all the documentation I read was for the TCU.

Couple questions:

1. This can do BT right?
2. If so, do I till need to install the BT antenna and mic?
3. There were extra uninstalled cables next to the MULF2. Do I need to plug those into something? Do I need to reconfigure the MOST junctions?
4. Why do I have the BT unit but no BT enabled?

Thanks!

Seriously, dude... search. This MULF BT coding, hardware install and activation have been covered from all angles, posibilities and modes too many times to count.

1. This can do BT right? - yes
2. If so, do I till need to install the BT antenna and mic? - yes
3. There were extra uninstalled cables next to the MULF2. Do I need to plug those into something? - if it's for the BT antenna, yes.
Do I need to reconfigure the MOST junctions? - usually no.
4. Why do I have the BT unit but no BT enabled? - because BMW decided to leave out 50 bucks worth of hardware when they sold you the car so you can pay a few hundred bucks to get them to do the retrofit.

Thanks for the assistance. I did some searches around here for MULF2 retrofit and really only got bits and pieces without anything meaningful. I must not be doing the right search terms.

Do any of you have a DIY you recommend? I saw the one at the top of this forum, but clearly it is out of date. The first page says you need FZD and that ULF is not successful.

I appreciate it.

I did the retrofit and the hardest part was coding (which I didn't do). RentonRider did the coding and it took a few tries to get it working as expected and it now works great. The only thing I had to buy was the antenna.

Good luck and PM me if you have any questions, but for the most part the DIY threads were spot on with the procedures.

Thanks. Still baffled by only needing an antenna. I am pretty put off by the $1200 dealer quote I received.

well, your $1200 quote is "cheap".
I was having problems with the coding initially when I did the retrofit and asked some shops for quotes on the coding here in Singapore. Most of the shops are not willing to do just coding and quoted me the whole retrofit package.
I was quoted about USD900 for the BT retrofit and another USD800 to activate the voice control. Kinda ridiculous if you ask me as the voice control is automatically activated when the BT coding is done.
I ended up solving my own coding problem and it cost me about USD160 for the mic, antenna, wiring, wiring pins and coding cable.

Problem with MULF Retriofit, help welcome

Hey guys, for those of you who did the MULF2_HI retrofit, any ideas?

Before:
MULF2/iDrive
Bluetooth working.
Voice commands NOT Working. (somethin wrong with the mic???? it works with BT)
USB N/A
$644 and $620 from factory.
Datecode #0610

After:
MULF2_HIGH_SYS/iDrive
Bluetooth NOT Wotking.
Voice Comomands NOT Working.
USB NOT working.
$644 and $620 from factory.
Added $6FL + Write FA.

Should i try with a different Date code?
Should i do SG Codieren? May be some variable there Not_Aktive?
Which ones should be active for VC/Bluetooth/USB?
Is it maybe a different VIN in the MULf2-HI?

Thanks!!

UPDATE

After fighting with different NCS Expert versions and Datum version, I could communicate and code CAS, NFRM, KOMBI and CIC. (iDrive)

Everything working now.

For others like me:

1) my retrofit was from MULF2 to MULF2-HIGH. (Add USB $6FL)
2) adapt all physical connectors with a knive. (Yes hard to believe)
3) Add FA/VO $644 $6FL $620 to CAS and NFRM
4) Code CIC variables for USB and BT
5) SG_RESET MULF2 and CIC

6) If problem with Voice commands remove language tag. $85x or replace with 853 english and SG_RESET

In my particular case I had the BT antenna and mic, so no glovebox connector issue, and i've just left the USB cable and USB drive in trunk.

Code rules!
