E90 HI FI Upgrade With Aftermarket Head Unit
So thanks to all the people on here that took the time to answer questions and share their experiences, I finally completed the install this past weekend.
I just wanted to say that this site was a great help in researching and made it alot easier than I thought it would be. I tried to take as many pics as I could, I found the deeper I got into the install the less I was able to take pics! I just got on a roll and forgot. Car: 2006 E90 with the HI Fi audio system. Equipment: head unit Alpine CDA117 with PAC SWI CAN2 and SWI RC for steering wheel controls, processor Audio Control DQX with DDC for remote adjustments, amp JL Audio 600/6 XD(running the doors off of ch1 and 2 and the underseats bridged off of ch 3&4 and 5&6), door comps CDT CL42, underseats Jehnert 200, wiring, distrubution block and fuse holder Knuconceptz. Ground point for 600/6 DQX 600/6 in stock amp location CDT mids Jehnert with new speaker cable JL gain settings All closed up Last edited by Dannyboy; 01-21-2013 at 05:24 PM.. |

Harness wiring before
After 4 gauge power wire soldered and crimped into oem pin to connect to battery. Part number for pin#61136920094 which attaches to part number 61136925166 (double connector). I was lucky and had a double plug already fused at battery. Battery with power cable Ground point for DQX |

I have the Jehnerts crossed over at 200 with 24db slope and a 50hz subsonic filter.
I'm going to see how long I can go without a sub. I can say this, it sounds really good right now but I know I will eventually want to put the sub in. The Jehnerts are perfect for midbass. Again thanks to everyone that posted inf it made it alot easier. |

No problem whatsoever. I am using CDT Cl42...http://www.woofersetc.com/p-5021-cl-...-speakers.aspx. They fit without any issues and in my opinion sound wonderful a great value.

I couldnt be happier with the way it sounds. Especially the midbass. No noise no pops the gains were set according to both the manual for the dqx and the 600/6. Nice high image and seperated perfectly thanks to the time alignment on the alpine.
No issues at all with the aftermarket HU. I even kept my chimes!. I couldn't be happier! |

So these speakers fit in the doors and mounted right up or do I need additional stuff to bolt them to the door? Same with the Tweeters - fit in the sails - no issues????
Nice clean install!!! Quote:

Thanks man!
The speakers mounted just fine an an E90. I'm not sure about the chassis, I think I read somewhere that the coupes have less space than the sedans for front door mounting. Anyway the only thing needed for the mids was an adapter to get the holes to match up and the tweets can be held in by the black syrofoamish(?) piece. Some people used glue to keep the tweets in place, but for me the black piece was pretty tight and did the job. |

The head unit looks good. I have been holding off on upgrading the head unit because of how the heater controls and dash kit look in the car. How does the lighting look at night?

Alpine does make a japanese version of that head unit that allows you to change the lighting colors. From what I understand the amber on that headunit is a good match. |
