About two days ago, we our 328i sedan home, but on the way, I think it may have experienced some water damage. The waters sere pretty high after the flash flood... not a good experience. Is there any way to tell if there is anything that got damaged? I couldn't see any water inside the car's footwell if that makes a difference. Also, how high can the water get before it starts to damage the car? I know that its not good for water to make a constant contact point with the ground, but I just don't know how much damage that may have caused. I just hope that car didn't take a hard hit... its only three months old and I just got to start enjoying it...

I agree with 533. If you have been able to drive home there should not be a serious impact. However, the prudent person I am, I would change the engine and transmission oils. Even if it would not be necessary it only would be good for the car.

Wires and electrical components are first to go, if the flood did not kill your engine.

I would ask the mechanic to check for any rust and electrical components after a few months just to make sure.

Having had my '89 Integra flooded in a river, I have a bit of experience here. I doubt you had any damage. If you didn't hydrolock the engine, then you are okay. It sounds like you were in the car when you went through the water so you would have noticed the water leaking through the doors. Are the carpets wet?

I drove through our river in my Integra, this was 1998, when the bridge was under water. I had about 1000 pounds of tile and mastick and tools in the hatch so the doors were not sealing well. Water came in under the door, and hit the engine computer, which is under the passenger seat, and immediately stopped the engine. We pushed the car out to dry land (it almost went off the bridge first!), and I let the computer dry out, cleaned it with alcohol, and it was good as new.

If the carpets aren't wet and it didn't stall then there should be no problem.
