Aftermarket Driveshaft Interest
Hey guys,
I posted this in the N54 forum, but thought I would post it here for you N55 folks as well. I work with a startup located here in Southern California called Thorough Concepts, and we are trying to gauge interest in the community for aftermarket driveshafts for BMWs. Michael Essa just installed a Thorough Concepts Aluminum 1-piece driveshaft on his FormulaD E46 that he's building for the 2013 season, and we would like to know if the E90 community would be interested in such a product. We offer steel and aluminum 1-piece driveshafts. Our steel driveshaft would be about 4-5 lbs lighter than stock and cost ~$300-350, while our aluminum driveshaft would be about 9 lbs lighter and cost ~$400-450. As these driveshafts are able to hold up for FormulaD, they are very strong and would not need to be replaced unless damaged in an accident. Please let us know if you would be interested in such a product, or of any questions or comments you have. Thanks |

This is e90 post. We want an OEM M Performance carbon driveshaft for $3000 that will keep our warranties intact.
Interesting idea but the percentage of drivers here that would appreciate a driveshaft that is 9 pounds lighter is probably very small. It seems sort of illy to start worrying about rotating mass when our cars come with cast iron tires. |
