Seen a post on recently regarding an oil leak from the swirl flaps on the inlet manifold. The guy fixed them himself so if this is the case it may put your mind at rest a little. Some one with more knowledge than me will be along to give you a better explanation I'm sure.
Ps check the technical section for the post removing manifold. Oil leak.

How old and milege is your car?
Mine had a leaky swirl flap no2 where the orange gasket had perished and leaking oil down the side and back of the block - it is difficult to see but once you shine light into that area you will be able to see

Mine was replaced under warranty but the orange gaskets are only couple quid each and will need 6

what model do you have? the later type cartridge flaps seemed to have solved the failure problem.
it does sound like the swirl flap seals are leaking, as said get a light in the engine bay to see where its coming from, if it is the swirl flap seals its a manifold off job to remove them for inspection, once off you have 2 choices blank them off or if in good condition put them back with a good sealant around the seals of the swirl flap cartridges, I've just done mine recently.
