Vishnu powered 335i vs. Vishnu powered Evo VIII. Predict the outcome...

I had a couple Evos before this car. So I have lots of friends with Evos.

Street racing is dangerous. Don't do it!

That said, at an undisclosed racetrack, I ran against my friend's Evo VIII. We didn't go from a start, because of course I would get annhiliated by the AWD launch. We rolled out past the start to about 40mph in second gear and did the ole three honk.

My car is a manual transmission 335i sedan with a PROcede v1.47 as the only mod.

His car is an 03 Evo VIII with the Vishnu v390 package: HKS cams, cam gears, full exhaust, 10.5 cm^2 hot side, and the old Vishnu XEDE. It made 307whp Dyno Dynamics (345whp Dynojet).

Guess the outcome?

Hint: If you've owned and driven both cars with similar mods, its pretty easy to tell. Exactly what I thought would happen did.

The EVO won. It's lighter and has more power than yours does. My Supra had HKS cams, AEM cam gears, and a HKS Ti exhaust, so I dont think you had a chance.

What does your supra have to do with anything?? How much power does a Supra TT with an exhaust make since you were an owner? I raced one the other day with TBE and I pulled like 2.5 car lenghts by limiter 3 times in a row and the last time I let him go first and I reeled him in and passed him. All I know is he had TBE and a loud BOV thats all I could tell.

If all he had was an exhaust, then of course you'd win. The car is heavier and makes less power since you had a procede, etc. Basically you got lucky and raced a pretty much stock supra. With $2000 worth of upgrades, that car could spend all day and night spanking most of the people on the forum.

By the way, love the car. It looks awesome.

2013 335is  [0.00]
With those mods I trapped 111 on pump gas with my 03 Evo and the 9.8 housing. Since it has an Xede only, I doubt the Evo is that fast. The Evo should have won, mine would have

It did, to the tune of two cars.

When I had my Evo IX with just a Vishnu flash and exhaust, it beat that same Evo VIII by about a car. IXs are pretty stout.

Hopefully we'll have a chance to get back to that track when my V2 comes in and it should be a little bit closer.

That sucks. Are these levels of mods pretty common on most of the Evos running around? Or just the hard core people. What are the total investment costs of those mods to the Evo? Same applies to the STI?

Evo had a lot more stuff than 335i with only Procede V1. Full TB exhaust + tune and its another story.

You can build a stage two STI for about 800.00. With this mods and a good driver(almost never hapens) you can run high 12's to low 13's. BTW two out of three STI's are runing stage 2.

Its pretty average. That setup on an VIII is good for like 12.30s@112 or so. If the car was an Evo IX, it only requires a reflash and exhaust to get those numbers.

Whoever told me to relax, I expected the outcome. A 335i doesn't really have anything for a properly tuned Evo in the acceleration department. Next time we go to the dragstrip, he'll launch at the tree, and it'll be lots worse.

My EvoVIII with 272 cam, dp, upgrade valvetain, fuel pump, O2 housing, HFC, LowerIC pipe, Greddy IC, 3" Exhaust, HKS EVC5, Apexi PowerFC standalone, Apexi intake ... and many other non-engine preformance parts..lol 310whp DynoDynamic at XS engineering
