WTB:335i Diff
Hi, I have 2007 E90 335i and I am after a full differential assembly.
OEM will be good. or LSD at reasonable price. Need to replace my current diff as it has developed a clunk on acceleration. Thanks.

Hi mate
As the guys have mentioned I have a brand new wavetrac LSD for sale. If you check your Date of manufacture my LSD will fit up to a 09/2007 build, and will save you $500 if you were to purchase a new wavetrac LSD from the USA Are you 100% sure your diff is dead though? If not I suggest getting it inspected by a diff specialist or someone like the guys @ Advan performance located in Auburn who specialise in our cars? |

thanks for reply gentlemen.
I've had it checked and been told needs new diff as BMW don't sell gears separately to recondition would need full assembly. would this wavetrac be considered full assembly or is it just add on to lock diff?

Hmm it would depend on what is flogged out in your diff I imagine. The guys at bmw aren't going to spend time overhauling a diff as they mentioned they don't sell individual components (which i find hard to believe)
Im happy to work together with you & try and source you the components you need to get your diff operational if it means you will purchase my wavetrac diff centre I must admit I'm not a diff expert but if your ring gear is ok I know the wavetrac diff centre bolts up to the oem ring gear.... Alternatively you could call a few wreckers, but whenever I have called them for parts they want ridiculous prices and you generally dont want a diff from a wrecked vehicle if its been involved in a shunt from behind. Unfortunately wrecked 335i's are also quite rare in Australia, and you need the 335i specific diff as a 328i etc have different ratios. Honestly if I was in your shoes, visit a reputable diff specialist have chat to them and see how much they will charge you to diagnose the issue by stripping it down, and then once you know exactly whats wrong work out what components you require and order them in. thanks for advice mate. I've done 100k km, only the occasional hard driving no more than average 335 owner. no track work. the clunk also happens on deceleration at times.

Sometimes clunking in the diffs can be caused from worn bearings, as these bearings sometimes wear they allow for excessive movement (notice the ball bearings also in the pic) which could cause a knocking clunking noise. Obviously its difficult to determine what is exactly wrong with the diff until it is stripped and an expert looks at it, but generally the gears are extremely tough and require big hp and hard launches to kill a diff in my experience its possible that you may get away with an lsd diff centre a fresh set of bearings If your reasonably handy and have the tools, i would dump the oil from the diff and inspect it. When you have the oil in a pan, run a magnet through it and check for shavings or pieces of gear. If you only find a fine paste type residue (this is normal) as mentioned it wont be a big a deal. |

Hey,
I have a full pumpkin (ie bolt in to your car, never open the housing) sitting in the shed in the BMW shipping container ) Ironically it was removed from my 2007 E90 335i when I had the Quaiffe installed) Drop me a PM with an offer (freight to the east will be circa $100 given the weight (which is a lot))
