After 2 days of grilling from both Republicans and Democrats.
Top American military commander in Iraq, General Petraeus and American ambassador to Iraq Ryan C. Crocker, (seen below)


has put forth a report on Iraq to congress and the American people. The General has reiterated the importance of the surge in Iraq while voicing frustrations over stalled progress. Despite those frustrations, he maintains the need to stay in Iraq for America's safety.

The Gen has said that by next summer he should be able to reduce the troop strength in Iraq to about 130,000. Basically returning to pre-surge strength. As you know, Democrats and some Republicans have been pushing for the Administration to end the war in Iraq for months now. After the testimony from the General and the Ambassador, Democrats and Republicans alike praised the two men as outstanding public servants. But democrats have basically Rejected the U.S. Troop Reduction Plan for Iraq.

My question is this. Knowing that Democrats don't have enough votes to override a Veto. What will they do now to continue to push for a withdrawal in Iraq?

I think they will introduce legislation in the senate to mandate troop vacation to be the same time in Iraq. If this passes, it will force a withdrawal from Iraq.
