Weird. I got the first low oil warning at 9700 miles.

^ I had the same warning at 5,600 miles and put the same Mobil 1 5W-30 full synthetic oil.

Changed mine at 3800 mile and had the oil analyzed. Came back "change oil immediately. Copper and Aluminum level very high" Obviously, this was my break-in oil and the copper was from bearings and aluminum from the turbos. Can't tell me it's OK to go 15K between 'free' oil changes.

I read the thread and article, but there's no evidence that Mobil 1 is not a true synthetic. Just one guy says it isn't and he posts a technical article about the make up of oil that doesn't say anything that would prove it one way or another.

Decided to do some research on my own and found this long study that some guys decided to make a few years ago to see if claims against Mobil 1 Synethetic were valid. According to them, the claims against Mobile were made by Amsoil.
So they compared the two in their own car with lab tests that analyzed samples of both. While there were differences, it really didn't matter. http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/s.../oil-life.html
