Maintenance of Venture Shield PPF
Hi Folks,
I just had some Venture Shield clear film protection applied to a few sections of my car. The job came out great and looks fantastic but I have some questions about maintaining this film for those of you who have it installed; 1) my installer said no abrasive cleaners or carnuba. The manufacturer (3M) recommends a plastic cleaner called Plexus to be applied to clean and polish clear film. However, I have read in several sites where people have used Plexus and complain that this has caused yellowing of film. What do you guys use to clean, polish and protect your Venture Shield? 2) the installer also said that Meguiar's Ultimate Spray Wax and Quick Detailer should be OK. Have any of you used these products? He was not sure about using Collinite 845 which is my favorite wax of all. 3) as far as scratches go I have read where some people use heat guns or hair blowers. My installer said to use a hot piece of wet towel and place it over the scratch or other blemish and that this will correct defects. Has anyone tried this? I know that some people say they use a DA with polish, etc.. for corrections to film but my installer said absolutely no high speed polisher. What do you guys think about the safest and easiest way to maintain this high gloss beautiful looking film? Thanks much, Ed |
