Exhaust flap rattle vs. wastegate rattle
I may be just missing something obviously easy (it's been a long day), but is there a simple way to differentiate exhaust flap rattle vs. wastegate rattle?
I've recently had a turbo replaced due to wastegate rattle (a few months back), but have noticed a new rattle in those past few months that occurs only under light throttle around 1300-1500 RPM's. Previous wastegate rattle was only noticeable under deceleration, fyi. |

i could be wrong here but i blieve the flap rattle only happens right when you turn the car on. if you are revving it and hear a sound i believe that would be the wastegates

if at doubt then force the exhaust flap open and see if you still get the rattle.
though from what you describe it seems to be WG since the exhaust will not change state under light throttle

I have the exhaust flap 'cable' unplugged in the trunk so it should already be open. Could this have been the initial cause of the issue? |
