Well I've had the car for a bit now, and I'm pretty sure that I don't like automatic wipers.
When it is just misting or drizzling, either they wipe too much or they wipe not enough.
When its raining harder, I just end up using the manual low or high speed.

I've read that you can code out the rain sensor and be left with a 4-speed adjustable intermittent wiper system (perfect!).

Has anyone coded out the rain sensor? Is it just modifying the VO, or is there an option in the module to disable auto wipers? (Yes, I have the cables and yes I've done both types of coding)

Thanks! Searches didn't turn up anything useful, so if nobody's done it or posts, I'll just figure it out and post back here.

Did you try to initialize your rain sensor in INPA? It is really helpful and your wipers can work better.

I didn't hear about deactivation of Rain sensor.

Is it possible to make the rain sensor more sensitive? I find it doesn't wipe enough in light rain...

E90
Karosserie
Rain and Light sensor
F6 (Activate)
F1 (initialize)

That's it, now should be much better.

I had exactly this same issue and now all works great.

Could you please elaborate on the function of the rain sensor? Wouldn't the rain sensor be set to on from the factory in order for the auto-wipers to work?

It is standard reset but very helpful, did you try it?
I think after this your rain sensor will be work much better.

My understanding is, for cars equipped with rain sensors, the sensitivity of the intermittent wipe is adjusted by the wheel on the lever.

I think ****** is suggesting that we reinitialize the rain sensor, similar to resetting the adaptations on any other sensor in the car.

What I plan to do with coding is to just turn off the damned rain sensor because i could care less about when the car thinks the windshield has water on it behind the mirror, i care about when there's water in front of my eyes.

I wasn't aware the sensor adapted. (off topic, but what other sensors in the car adapts to driving habits/environment? I had a Subaru that needed the auto trans reset every once in a while to reset out the hard down shifts.)

That does not work. I think it's there on default for vehicles that don't have a rain sensor. I noticed no difference in sensitivity when adjusting the lever.

the sensitivity adjustment definitely works on my car.

in some conditions, it goes from "definitely not frequent enough" to "almost but not quite frequent enough"

in other conditions it goes from "just a little too frequent" to "high speed always on? its like misting, really?"

Tried this and the intermittent intervals are still pretty ordinary to be honest.

Surely this is something we can code to change?

Using the wheel to adjust the sensitive sure works. I find the auto rain sensors works better on my bmw than my c class.
