335d went into 'limp mode' this morning

All,

A little background, I purchased at CPO '09 335d in October, since then, no problems whatsoever. This morning while driving to work, about 1/4 mile from my house, I hear the audible tone (similar to when you don't engage your seatbelt) and look down at my dash. I see an engine illustration with a line through it. I also notice the car revs and accelerates VERY SLOWLY. Immediately I knew it was in 'limp mode' so I pulled over and turned the car off. Turned the car back on about a minute later and everything seemed fine, throttle response was back to normal. However, I took it straight to the dealership anyway to get it looked at. Now just waiting to hear back from them.

The guy said it may have something to do with the injectors. The car has 39k miles and is drivin mixed city/highway about 70/30. I know others on here have had this same issue, just wondering what the cause of your problem was and if it was a recurring issue???

Thanks for you feedback!

J

Happened to me and it was my "swirl flap actuator" which led to my air intake manifold being replaced due to carbon build-up.

Do you have a fault/code reader?

Theres a couple threads on the issue. My car got an engine malfunction warning last weekend and was put into limp mode. Code read turbo underboost. It is currently getting a new dpf pipe at 30k miles. Thank the epa for all this nonsense.

Man, now I'm just wondering who here in the diesel forum is going to come out unscathed for at least 100k miles. We're all dropping like flies with this carbon build-up issue!

As for me, over 25k miles so far and no major issues. Always gunnin' the car a few times a day of course. Fingers crossed.

if I had to come down with a choice to pay a potentially 3k repair bill for a part that would most likely fail again, or remove it completely for much cheaper I would definitely choose the latter option. Thankfully I don't live in any communist states like California or New York lol. <3 Texas baby!!!
Where you getting your delete kit from?

You'll need the actual pipe as the dpf will clog up without doing any regens very quickly and totally screw everything up. I guess you could remove it and core it out. My car is currently at the dealer getting the dpf replaced because its clogged up and if there's a big exhaust restriction your turbos will not spool up properly and cause a major power loss, not to mention an ses light.

MachV (the US dealer for the Evolve tune since VS closed its doors) seem to think they could add it to their flash upon request. I would prefer a solution that is reversible though, like a plug in sensor simulator, so that I could slap the DPF on for smog, sell the car, etc. but certainly removing the DPF now so that it doesnt go bad later seems like the intelligent choice

I got my car back today, there was a problem with the throttle actuator. They replaced it and the car seems to be right back to normal! Not sure exactly what caused the problem in the first place.

Was it a throttle valve? That part failed on my car and needed to be replaced
