Reparied Cracked Wheels - Will They Last?

Just wondering if a repaired cracked wheel will last if it's been repaired by a decent repairer?

Part of me is thinking that the wheel should actually be stronger around the weld as more metal has been addesd but the other part is thinking that once a wheel is cracked it will all ways have a weak spot in that area.

Any ideas?

The crack is likely to come back at some point or another.

A more detailed answer is it depends.

If the crack is parallel to how the wheel is spinning (like on the barrel, then it should not be welded. Also if there is more than 1 crack it should not be welded.

If the crack is on the barrel and crosses the 90* flange then the crack can be opened up, end of the crack drilled out so it doesn't keep cracking, and welded. Some say integrity is just as strong some say it is not. Real world scenario: most likely it will be just fine.... just ugly because you can see the weld beads.

If you track and put the wheels to harsher stresses than normal use.. I would not weld them.
