Hey everyone,

The black trim on the exterior roof of my car is looking pretty weathered. What are my options aside from replacing it? I was considering painting it, so if that's a viable option I'm looking to be point in the right direction in terms of product so it comes out looking sharp and even.

I recommend you to use a plastic permanent coating that will restore the trim to it's original condition.

This products are a permanent solution not a temporary fix to your issue with the trim.

I took them off and sanded them down, then repainted them using Krylon plastic trim paint, matte black. They turned out great. A little crinkly, but not too bad (more like a slight orange peel finish). They are easy to pop out, just take a piece of paper towel and a medium sized flathead screwdriver. Gently pop one section at a time. The whole project took about 2 hours, with primer and two coats of paint.

Haven't found a weekend to focus on aesthetics... most work on my car has been maintenance but this weekend or next I'll be putting my M3 rep front bump on and most likely taking care of the trim as well.

if they're just faded then those trim products that pete mentioned will have them looking new. Plus you can use it on the trim around the windows and mirrors too.
