Can someone please help...carbonblast induction service
After reading some great replies in the forums trying to determine how to fix my 2008 335i bmw (purchased pre-owned 2 weeks ago from South Motors BMW in Florida), I am discovering that the slipping or loss in acceleration may be from carbon build-up. Does anyone know a good place in FL to have the walnut blasting done? Is the walnut blasting the best thing to do? I found a BMW dealership in St. Petersburge, FL that has a special running for $450 for the walnut blasting....it is 200 miles away though. My dealership here (Braman, West Palm Beach) is charging $850. All other local shops only do chemicals ($150), but probably will not clean it fully.
Any suggestions? Am I on the right track with this problem? I wish my warranty covered this. I actually took it in last week, got the diagnosis (which was for carbon cleaning), and they replaced spark plugs and ignition coils...still has the problem. Thanks, Lee |

I got mine done by a guy in Coral Springs for around $350 if I remember correctly. He was a nice guy and did a good job. I'll see if I can find his contact info a little later.

Prior to getting it done by an indy and my CPO expiring, my service advisor said it was covered by the CPO, but if they pulled it apart and it didn't look that bad it wouldn't be covered and I'd have to pay the $850 they were asking for the service.
I just paid the $325 (I was wrong about it being $350) to the indy rather than risking the $850, paying the $50 deductible, and having to remove the tune and DCI. |
