oil change @ 2000 kms?.....
i bot a 2013 e92 coupe 335xi that had been sitting on a lot for a year with 39kms on it
it is going to the dealer for service on a steering column issue tomorrow, i was thinking about getting the oil and filter changed since i am now past break in and the oil is well over a year old now waste of money or good idea? |

Couldn't hurt. If it sat, was it started frequently but shut down before it warmed up? That would be a good reason to change the oil even it hasn't been driven.

Doesn't hurt for sure. The only thing is whether or not the factory fill is a special break in oil vs what the dealer will give you. Double check on that and you're good to go!

Break in oil is only used in the M3 and changed at about 1,200 miles.

If the same oil has been in the car for over a year, it is due for a change, regardless of mileage. The dealer will do it under the covered maintenance - assuming you are in North America.
(See your Warranty/Service manual re low mileage oil changes.) Tom |
