Anyone try one of these yet? I typically support the vendors on here but the price makes it interesting. I would like to hear if anyone has tried their latest design. Want to know if this new one needs cutting or not and peoples opinions in general. Looking to get an FMIC this week.

For $600 I would go with the 4'' cxracing but that is me. One of the ST guys likes his. If you didn't want the cxracing why not go with the 7'' thick VRSF? Less expensive & deeper.

I have a CX racing upgraded to 4" core. With stock turbos or the ST currently the temps are super stable without meth. With meth it drops to ambient to below ambient and i live in a very hot area and have taken the ST to south Florida with the same results. I have done a lot of testing with thermal couplers and back to back to back runs with no heat soak or any big increase in temps. Its one of the few parts that i will stand behind and encourage people to buy based on price/performance. The cons: i can't speak for the standard 3" core but the 4" isn't exactly a perfect fit. It takes some plastic trimming probably more than most. I think you could get away with a lot less with the 3".

For a basic upgrade i would go VRSF. Price and quality are great

It will work much better than OEM, but for $600 there are better intercoolers with quality cores and smooth end tanks.

I don't know the rules on posting links. The one I am referring to is not the big Tom one. It is 6x6. I found it on eBay. They call it version 2. It has mandrel bent pipes off the tanks versus the welded sharp turns.

Tim, that one is nice and looks damn close to the one I'm talking about.

The VRSF unit is nice too. But not available till sep. So who knows when I'd get it.

Sounds like VRSF fits your needs most. I would just wait until Sept. You will not be disappointed and Tiago customer service is unmatched and will assist you every step of the way.

That intercooler you're referring to will require cutting. Anything over 5" on this platform will not fit without trimming unfortunately.

I am going to get the cxracing 4''. I don't mind cutting and all of the reviews have been great that I have read. I also get a 3'' charge pipe and meth bung with it which is a bonus.

If It wasn't the cxracing I would definitely get the 7'' VRSF great price, great reviews.

How much of a PITA is it to cut away material to fit the 6" or 7"? What about going back to stock? Would this be noticable with the stock unit back in after cutting?

Trimming is easy. Going back to stock, not so much. I'm planning on replacing some parts when/if I go back to stock

Takes 5-10 minutes with the correct tools and if done correctly the bumper would have to be removed in order to see where the shroud has been trimmed.

I have to swap out my bumper anyhow so I have to take it all apart so I guess trimming really isnt a big deal. Tiago, what is best price shipped for the 5" and 7"?

+1 VRSF is a great product!! If it was in stock i'd say buy one. You could always buy one to reserve yours now though.

If your in a rush i do not recomend the godspeed one or crx racing one. Not because of the intercoolers performance but because of other reasons. Godspeed is better because its in the oem location, but does it create a tight fit under the radiator to keep the same pressure in the engine bay that bmw designed it for? The CRX racing intercooler is very nice and big, but that one requires you to put it infront of your radiator causing the radiator to loose flow...

1) for the price godspeed is just not worth it (fitment is huge and without confirmed results its iffy), get vrsf instead. You'll also need to cut anyways.

2) AA is having a sale right now or $599 on there intercooler. If you need one now, buy this over godspeed. Sale ends soon so act fast! This company has a good reputation too.

Has anyone with a cxracing ever had issues not being able to properly cool down their car? Unless I am mistaken people track with that intercooler without issues...please link me to a thread if I am wrong.

What is the charge piping upgrade that is available with the VSRF intercooler? I did not see any details on the site.

The lower charge pipe replaces the OEM plastic piece on the 09 and up models.
