Is 335is stock setup different from 335i?
Hey E90Post Community!
I wanted to ask if there was a difference in stock suspension setup in a 335is and 335i? I wanted to upgrade but didn't have a start point. Looking for an aggressive stance maybe 1 to 3 inches lower. Not trying to wreck the ride so cost vs durability. Thanks for any suggestions! Pics of your own ride would be awesome! -KaiLani |

I think someone matched up the part numbers a while back and it's the same suspension, LCI E92 335i vs. E92 335is.

Yep, performance differences are engine related. Motor mounts, tune, auxiliary oil cooler (need to check if the PNs match with the sport package 335i), auxiliary radiator, upgraded radiator fan, and exhaust (mostly sound). If I forgot something someone let me know.
All that being said, I do love the beast and highly recommend one. While the chassis can definitely handle more power, once you push her you'll find that suspension work is required to cure the "safe" understeer the lawyers require. As with any other E9X, M3 kit from GetBMWParts, coilovers (I'm leaning Ohlins R&T), and LSD transform the car though.

One suspension difference is the 335is has different rear guide rods. Not a big difference but interesting that BMW beefed up that part.
OP: if you don't want to wreck the ride, you probably don't want to lower much more than 1-1.5" and look for a quality coilover.

this is going to be key, buy a good coilover and dont go full drop. I assume your going to be running 19's?
