AR downpipes.

Could anyone please clear this up for me.

Do AR downpipes fit rhd and lhd cars or do they require modification?

Thanks

I believe there was a RHD version ages ago, but some were arguing there wasn't.

The website don't show this anymore.

Go with VSRF downpipe, cheap and good

I've already purchased some which are being shipped from America, so ill keep my fingers crossed now haha.

Can see a lot of grazed knuckles and foul language being exchanged when I try to install them because from what I've read it's not the easiest of jobs.

definitely try and borrow a ramp...

doing on your back will just end up with you selling your car out of frustration lol

AR downpipes are supposed to fit both RHD and LHD but either way it's going to be tight for space. I would advise dropping the subframe down a few inches for clearance. Its much more difficult on our cars due to the steering rack sitting right under the turbos

It's almost impossible on the drive. You will need a ramp.
Drive to Stockport and pay Darren Wood to do it. Best money I spent on labour on any car I ever owned. They have done loads. Know exactly what they are doing and have all the gear.

They do fit RHD fine.

I've done loads of work on cars, but I would never try fitting these myself without a ramp, well I wouldn't bother full stop.

You need to drop the subframe (that also carries the engine mounts) whilst supporting the engine from above to get decent access.

I see you're in stoke? I'm nr Eccleshall and always went to Darren Woods in stockport. Its an hour up the M6 in the morning and you'd be away after lunch all done for about £150 / 3 hours labour, plus gaskets and v band clamps etc.

It's £200-£250 labour at DW. Labour is £50 p/h per man. Well worth it.

I do have access to a ramp.

But might pay a visit to Darren and save myself the grazed knuckles

I'm sure the garage you used know what they are doing when it comes to servicing a Fiesta. This is quite a specialist job that requires expertise and experience as well as a lot of patience.
1 easy question to call back and ask them right now is "Did you drop the front subframe and remove the steering rack fasteners?"
It is almost impossible to do without these steps. If they say 'no' go get your car and take it to DW.

I shall ring them now and ask.

When I did speak to him he said it was fouling the steering rack and also the lambda positions are wrong.

Don't suppose you know as to whether DW replies to emails as I've just sent him one or whether to just give him a call?

Thanks for your reply

DW do reply to mails but it can take them a day or so. The guy on the desk is a top chap. Just give them a call. They have fitted loads of AR pipes and never had a problem.

Did my ar's on the drive on axle stands was a bitch im not gonna lie. It can be done my advice is check and tripple check. My o2 sensor was knocking on steering column heat sheild needless to say cost me £180 for new sensor plus had to refit / adjust them. I would do downpipes again but I know for sure I won't attempt turbos without proper ramps. Also get a buddy thats good with cars to help!

They will.

The problem with them being so popular though, is the wait for a slot to get in.
Well worth it as you know exactly what you are getting IMO.
