Don't use these people to vinyl wrap anything.

OK. so I rang around a few local companies regarding getting my silver interior trim vinyl wrapped.

I went down to surreyvinylwraps.co.uk based in Tolworth / Chessington. Despite their workshop being a complete tip, they had some flashy cars being worked on and on speaking to the head guy Chris and being told they would do a great job and that I had nothing to worry about, I booked he car in. (the price was good too).

Attempt 1:
Dropped the car off only to be told "forgot to order your vinyl mate". No apology nothing. I'll order it later. Over an hour wasted getting there and back for nothing.

Attempt 2, 3:
Keep ringing Chris and kept being told "it would be ordered today". 2 weeks go by of being told this and nothing. Every time I ring to see if its in I get told the same " I forgot to order it mate"

Attemp 4:
I finally call and get told the vinyl 'is in', so I book the car in. I drop the car down and am told it will be ready in about 2 1/2 hours.
4 1/2 hours go by and I hear nothing. I text the guy and get no reply. I try calling and it goes straight to voice mail. So my wife drives me down there and there 's Chris playing with one of my pieces of trim. He'd only completed 4 pieces in almost 5 hours! When I ask him what's going on he says he didn't know what the time was! Says he'll be finished in 30 minutes! I tell him we'll wait and look at the bits he'd done. All I can say s they looked bloody terrible. Bits not stuck down properly, silver trim showing at the edges it all looked like crap. I told him there were issues and he sad he'd take a look when he was done. The bits he did while I was there actually looked pretty good and I checked each piece before I had to re fit them in place!
So he finishes, looks at all the crappy bits and says "I can re do some of the pieces but the rest I can't do any better . Oh and ill need to order some more vinyl in to do the bits again too. Any way I need paying, how much did we agree on?" ......................
All I can say is if my wife wasn't there to keep me grounded I think blood would have been spilled. I was fuming to say the least.
To cut a long story short, we left without paying saying that " when the new vinyl comes in call me and ill re book the car in to get it re done ... Then when it's finished I'll pay you".

I'm not holding my breath for the phone call to re do all the crappy bits and to be honest I won't care if it doesn't come!

So ...don't go to : http://www.surreyvinylwraps.co.uk.

WHAT A BUCNH OF COWBOYS & C*NTS. Especially Chris who drive a yellow Ferrari 360 by the way!

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe give Surrey Projects a visit to put things right?

I've seen a few horror stories when the wrap has been taken off only to find bad scratches below.

If they are that careless, I'd worry how sloppy the rest of their work is.

Steve
I've seen few interiors wrapped. The corners and aircon vents are toughest, followed by the ashtray lid.
I have also seen work done by surrey projects (talking about interior). It Okish for the interior but not excellent.
The best work I have seen is by the guy with the user name 'custom colours' on this forum. The vents and corners were done properly.

All the best for the rest of it. Live with those or get those stripped and re-wrapped.

I actually went to Surrey Projects (they're only down the road form where i went) after reading great reviews on here. The guys there said he had issues with getting the vinyl to stick to silver trim and said he didn't really want to do it. At least he was honest about what he could and couldn't do!

I chose a black brushed aluminium effect (made by 3M) by the way. It looks really good, not as trendy as carbon is at the moment, but it won't go out of fashion either!

Oh I forgot to mention that a BMW nut "appeared from knowwhere" on the carpet in my footwell (along with the coresponding spanner) according to Chris.

Does none have any idea which bit of trim that it should be attached too?

Im sorry to hear mate! That customer service sounds straight up disrespectful. And especially for something such as interior trim, should not be a 2 week burden.

I'd totally recommend Surrey Projects: http://www.surreyprojects.co.uk/

I drove up all the way from Manchester to get work done by them! Reliable, excellent prices, and everyone there knows what they're doing!
I had my roof, mirrors and full interior trim wrapped as well as windows tinted!

P.S Just read that you had tried Surrey Projects - excellent customer service once again!

Thats not good mate,

I think I recomended the place I had mine done in Northolt and they did an amazing job.

Everyone who saw it at the Gaydon show was impressed.

Do not take ya car back to where it was messed up

If they're a company wanting to give a good impression you should offer them the link to this thread via their website. It would be interesting to see what they have to say and it might be a nice surprise if they respond with remorse and an offer to fix the shoddy work...

So, after attempt 2, I would have walked away.

Or... at attempt 4, say sorry, sold the car/gone elsewhere/forgot to tell you I've changed my mind, keep the vinyl.

Hey mate. As mentioned by makkan00 I do prwtty well on wrapping in general. Interior parts im also pretty good at as mentioned by makkan00 also (thanks sam, much appreciated).

When it comes to vinyling small finicky parts there can be issues. But I always stick by the fact that if a customer is not happy with a part theres a reason and I will redo the part again till they are. Sometimes the original material. Ie brushed and honeycomes are harder as they is essentially less surface area for the vinyl to adhere to. But that said corners etc will not lift with my work.

If you need any parts redone or finished then get in touch via pm and ill sort something. I always have the vinyls in stock and if not are only a day away so can move reasonably quickly.

Maybe this isn't the right place to ask but is there a thread of people's Internal Vinyl work?
CustomColours do you have some examples of work you've done? I looked on your website (under construction) and also couldn't find many on the forum. You're very local to me so would be good to have a look.

Cheers.

I really hate service like this - where you have to constantly chase people up to even get a response or update on a particular job only to find nothing has been done. Companies won't last long in the current climate with this type of service and mentality.

I'm guessing he probably won't call you back about the extra vinyl. I'd use the suggestions above to resolve!

The grilles within the central dashboard trim are attached by two small nuts. Might be one of those bud.
