Do I need a new windshield?

This is relating to my e30.

My windshield is peppered with weird micro spots. Picture a fine rain mist on your windshield, only permanent. It's not that visible when you look at it head on but if I shine a light (or sunlight hits it) at a slight angle visibility drops severly. Also it's ugly.

I tried using Autoglym Car Glass Polish on it (hand polished it. Haven't tried using a dual action polisher yet). Having said that, has anyone ever encountered that? Should I not waste my time and get a new windshield instead? Can anyone recommend any other combound (preferably readily available in Canuckistan).

I parked under a tree once and this light mist of sap was on my paint. It took some pretty heavy claying to remove it. Is this perhaps what your issue could be?

It could be. The windshield was like that when I took ownership and I almost never park under a tree (car is garage kept over night). I will try the DA polisher with the compound + clay barring it.

I have it too. No sure what it is but heavy claying and polishing with DA, LC glass polish pads and Carpro Ceriglass did not solve the problem. It's only really visible in the right light though.
