Service Reset=Scam

So I purchased a CPO 328i Xdrive from Performance BMW not too long ago and will be taking it to them for oil changes until warranty expires. I have my first oil change appointment with them on Saturday and the service adviser indicated to me that they charge $60 to reset the service computer on top of my oil change. So it's $129 for oil change and $60 for service reset...I know that I can do this on my own, but I do not know how to...

Any hints...

Cheers

Do it in front of them just to show how much of sum bags they are for trying to charge you $60 to press a button.

Thanks Delta! I am not new to BMW at all, but this is just ridiculous! I'm gonna do it before I go!

But the dealer had the latest java update so they were able to see YouTube videos on how to reset service reminders. Come on dude that $60 charge was very justifiable!

A little threadjack on a related question. I always reset mine (non-idrive) using the stalk and service menu as shown above.
I think I have a general service reminder coming up in a few months, or 10,000km. I think it's the one with the car on the lift. Is this something I can reset myself?

correct me if Im wrong but if the car is still under warranty why would they charge you to reset a light

I also had a service light and the dealer took care of it without any extra charges

Dealers are independent of each other...

it doesn't matter , they all honor bmw warranty. I brought mine to two different dealers and they worked on my car under bmw warranty. Unless you bringing your car to a private garage which is a different story or you car is out of warranty

Either way, it cost me nothing...CPO is different than the 4 yr/80 maintenance included warranty
