$80 dollar oil change?

So, since I have to travel this weekend and don't have time to get the car up on ramps, I figured I'd call the local dealer and ask which child I had to give up to get an oil change. They said it's a "special" this month from BMW USA for 80 dollars. I figured for oil and filter and time, that's not really the end of the world.

Needless to say, my girl is getting her oil changed right now.

What do you think of that price?

Pretty good given the fact that 7 quarts of oil and filter will run you a bit over $60. So you're basically paying $20 for labor, which is very good.

Yeah, I've found BMW's value service options to be pretty good. Right now all I can find for E9x vehicles is the oil change, but the E46 has other stuff like Inspection I, front brakes, etc.

I hope they add more value service options going forward. $80 for an oil change isn't so bad, but other maintenance items are still pretty pricy when compared to other cars. It's as they say though, you gotta pay to play!

$20 for not getting your hands dirty & not having to dispose of the used oil is not bad at all!

I just called them yesterday and scheduled an oil change for this Friday but they told me it would run me $100. Is this a nationwide thing? Anything I can reference?

No not all dealerships are doing it. I have three right around me (circle, open road, and freehold) but only one of them (open road) is doing it.

The SA asked what model and I told him an 09 335i. He said oh, that model BMW USA is running a special. That's all he said.

From what i understand the value service is a nationwide thing and should be 80$ all the time at all dealers.

$80 is great.

Cost me nearly just as much to do it myself!

That's not the recommended oil for this car tho....

If you want to do it with the right oil that BMW uses/recommends including BMW's filter it's going to cost atleast $60-75

They put BMW 5-30 in for mine. I'm happy for that price. Free car wash and interior vacuum of course doesn't hurt.

$80 is only a little more than the cost of materials. I usually do it myself because it takes 20 minutes in my driveway instead of farting around at the dealership for half of a day, but if that's more convenient than $80 is a good deal

My dealer has me in and out within an hour and a half for an oil change - including the hand wash for $79.95 with the coupon. If something comes up and it takes longer, a loaner is provided.

Good price. For $20 more than you can do it yourself you have no dirty hands, no waste to deal with and an updated service history.

well if you own any or most late model Porsche, that's what the dealer will charge you. I have taken it to indy shop for 200$ vs. 400-500$.

in fact, local bmw dealer wanted 400$ for m3 oil change and another one wanted 450$. I passed it like I passed grass.
