Sometimes too much information is not a good thing. My car finished production September 8th. My ED is Oct. 10th. BMWNA has shown the car at status 170 since 9/8. Every time I call the 800 number to check on the status, whoever answers in customer relations speculates about a new reason why it needs to go to the workshop. This started about the same time 335tt had his engine grenade up in Canada. You can imagine all the nightmare scenarios I went through as to why the car needs to go to workshop.
Finally I got a sane answer from ED department. Since the delivery center has room for a certain number of cars, this is the status that will show until a few days before delivery. The workshop in this case could be in Regensburg or in Munich. The car goes through for the pre delivery inspection, then is taken to the delviery center. Shawn Phoenix |

And the 800# messages go in this order. Also, from what I can tell it seems the system updates between 6am and 7am EST.
"Your vehicle is scheduled for production with no confirmed production date" "Your vehicle is scheduled for production with an estimated completion date of mm/dd/yy" "Your vehicle is in the body shop and is scheduled to be completed on mm/dd/yy" "Your vehicle is in the paint shop and is scheduled to be completed on mm/dd/yy" "Your vehicle is in the assembly phase and is scheduled to be completed on mm/dd/yy" "Your vehicle production is complete and is waiting to be released to the carrier" "Your vehicle was released to a carrier and is awaiting transportation to the port of exit" "Your vehicle is being transported to the port of exit" "Your vehicle is at the port of exit waiting for a shipping vessel" "Your vehicle is in transit. Contact your BMW Center for more information"

Today when I called the 800 number - I received a slightly different message that what is above for the "Your vehicle is at the port" message. The automated mesage read the first part "Your vehicle is at the port of exit waiting for a shipping vessel", Then the message added "There is no additional shipping information available at this time". Does it ever give you additional information? Slightly off topic - my car completed production on 1/31, but only today give the message that the car was at the port of exit. 7 days is the longest I have noted in the forum comments for those stages. (finish production until waiting at the port) I saw a few comments for folks that had cars finish produciton on the 4th make it to the port by the 6th. Am I just lucky that my car seems to take extra long for each step? |

in transit?
My 2009 335i xdrive has been in transit since 10/01 according to my dealer. He did not expect it to take longer than 5-7 days. Anyone else been waiting longer than normal?

Guys,
I have ordered the 328i-09 car at dealer on 12/13/08, and the finance was approved on 12/16/08. How many days you think I should wait to get the production number? Thanks! |

The dealer should have given you that # when they placed the order. When I ordered mine, he input directly into BMW system and I left that day with a print out that had the production # on it. I guess because the plant my be in shutdown for the holiday, it could be delayed. All in all from time of order mine took 6 weeks ordered in Oct for a 2009 328i Xdrive Coupe until I picked up.
