Aftermarket Radio Decks

What system do you have? Have you experienced any issues with having them installed?

I have a Kenwood touch screen, and have had a bunch of problems when any recall needs to be performed or anything done with the computer. Even though the dealership itself were the installers.

There is an Audio Sub board here.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=27

It well known that the BMW diag computer at the dealership
will not work without the car in the orginal configuration which includes
whatever Radio or Idrive configuration you have/had .
There are ways to do coding and updates without this with a coding setup but BMW won't do it. (they don't support coding setups)
The guys on the coding sub board have a way around some of this.
The common way around this is to mount the original radio in the trunk.(see second link)
Also if you have any options like SOS , PDC ,CDC they will cease to work
as the radio acts as a server and a switch for them.

Basicly if you had a pro radio you need to mount it in the trunk and hook it up or put it back in for the update or repair.
See the second link.

You got a Dealership to install a aftermarket Radio which dealership?
Can hardly believe anyone of them would have the guts to do that.

The Dealership in Fresno. Every time I need coding done or anything they've just bypassed the radio. Not exactly sure how. But thanks for the info!
