Helix Attaché DME Tuner Dyno Results

We've now finished the initial slew of tests on our DME Tuner and are tremendously pleased with the results: the drivability is as stock, with no quirky power surges or dips, and no diagnostic trouble codes. The acceleration is downright nasty. We did some with-and-without dyno pulls this afternoon on our Mustang MD 250 dyno. Note that Mustang numbers are generally lower than Dynojet or other tuner shop dynos, but it's the delta which is important. These tests were done on an otherwise stock 335i with SAE correction factor (.98), but no drivetrain correction.

As you can see, spool up is not instantaneous on the dyno with the Attaché on, showing full boost at 2400 instead of 2300. On the street, there is no descernable lag: just smooth and fast acceleration.

We will now be looking to put a few of these on local cars to check for car-to-car variation (we'll be working special deals out for the first several, in exchange for some monitoring and perhaps dynoing). Expect to hear more over the next few weeks (gotta get SEMA out of the way), and then a release event at Helix Headquarters in beautiful North Philadelphia.

Is this another piggyback based on the Haltech unit?

Nope, this unit is unique to this market. We've used erlier versions on our Twin Charged MINI Cooper kits.

no it is not another haltech unit. This unit allows us control of boost, timing, complete fuel control, lambda control and a slew of other features. the unit also has 5d mapping that will allow us to implement some pretty cool features into the mapping

+68whp and +71 lb/ft all over the powerband : )

So, i'm assuming this is a plug and play piggyback?

Nice work though, I look forward to seeing what else you have up your sleeve.

thats just where Eric set the dyno to stop the test. Next time at the dyno we'll run it all the way out. I can tell you this car pulls very hard to redline

Tia
at first the unit will be restricted to our tune maps, but i want to make a tune library for all sorts of mod levels so end users can chose the maps they'd like. this unit can store 2 maps that can be changed on the fly with a toggle switch. as far as install its similar to other Piggybacks(male and female pins) although we are interfacing with more wires than some of the other offerings.

The more competition the better. Nice to have someone in the mid-atlantic working on these enhancements.

If this gives full control it would really be nice. More and more people are doing advanced modding and this would definitely help. Any screenshots of the software?

Impressive... The delta is better than Procede v1.47. If there are no CELs, then you may have yourself quite a unit as we're having a little trouble waiting on the Procede V2. Cost?

13 psi. a little lower boost around the knock threshold area at low rpm/high load areas and tapering lower at the top end. we have a bunch of control over air fuels and can add and subtract fuel to flatten the air fuel out more than other units we have seen. the goal was to try and make a very "meaty" powerband without peakiness. Eric will talk to you guys about pricing but I think you will all be pleasantly surprised. the first few local guys that act fast will get a STEEP discount. get in touch with him at Helix 877-Helix13
