Does your boot open automatically?

In my e60 when I opened the boot from the keyfob the boot would open fully which was very handy, but in the E92 it just seems to release the latch and you then have to manually lift it open. Is that normal?

Also I've noticed I now need to unlock the car before the boot release will work, where as in the E60 I could open the boot from the keyfob without unlocking the car.

Thanks.

Both my e60's had boots that popped open. I questioned the boot opening when I got my e92 and was told by the dealer that it has different hinges and isn't counterbalanced to open fully. Shame, when you've got your hands full it was convenient to have it open fully. I too, noticed the boot unlocking difference. You'd think all models would be the same?!?

These are only niggles tho'. I'd rather have my 335i than any 5 Series anyday! (well maybe I'd consider an M5!!!)

Yep Coupe is the same, you have to unlock the car and then the boot.
The boot does not auto open though.

It is an optional extra, just kidnap a Lithuanian and store him in the boot, when you pop the fob,he'll be dead glad to see the sunlight!

Yep mine is the same, but at least you can not open the boot accidently as with the E60 when your key is in your trouser pocket!

This has started to annoy me now. As the car seems to be constantly filthy (despite me washing it regularly) I always have to get my hand/finger dirty opening the boot. On the E60 (and on my previous cars) it opened on its own and thus I never had to touch the dirty paintwork.

The rear of the car tends to get dirty very quickly especially during winter so it would have been nice to have the boot open fully.

Congratulations, possibly the most ignorant comment I have ever read on this forum. Any more hilarious tales involving "pakis" and "wogs" as a finale?

It's a shame a sense of humour is not available as an optional extra!

Exchange "Lithuanian" for "n*gger"

Still funny?

If not why?

I'm all ears.

Because "Lithuanian" isn't a derogatory or racist term maybe, whereas the other one is?

Pretty simple really.

Used in the context it was it clearly was derogatory, otherwise why specify the nationality?

Sorry, I'm probably over reacting, it just seemed a comment that was beyond crass, and the suggestion that it is my sense of humour that is lacking irks me.

I can tell you are irked, don't let it get to you - it's christmas

The joke would have been better if it had read "kidnap someone" I'll admit but it's not enough to get worked up over.

A Lithuanian or two might disagree but I take your point and my intention wasn't to construct an unnecessary yuletide soapbox, just merely to highlight that it was a pretty stupid comment.

Vienna, why bring derogatory terms into it, you exchanged a clearly racist name for a nationality.
You imply I'm racist, when racist terms come from you.

OK, you failed to see what was funny, in what was nothing more then a flippant remark, based on the amount of illegal immigrants in the country.
A problem which has all too often been highlighted in the media.

If my remark upset you, then I apologise, DON'T turn it into something that it was not, thankyou.

Happy Christmas.

I didn't think it was funny, you did, end of story.

The point of using derogatory terms was intended to show that I felt the divide between such terms and your post were narrow.

Happy Christmas to you also.
