Oil Change After Break-In

This earlier post made me wonder about motor break-in.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93968
I guess you will choose one or the other approach.

However, if you do decide to break-in your motor, is it worth changing out the oil & filter after break-in? (ya, u can go further too...tranny, rear, brake fluids, etc.)

Any thoughts?

what ive done with my 325cic and probably the 335cv is cut the intervals in half. Ill change oil at 7500 miles. this will accomplish two things. it will split the oil change interval and will change the break in oil.

a few members on the board here had their 335i engine oil analysed after they did a break-in oil change (at 2000km or 1200 miles) and the analyses indicated that it was definately not a bad idea to do an oil change at this time. You could probably search to find the results... if it were me, I would do the break-in oil change and then at least split the regular interval to scheduled service.

I changed my oil only at 2K, left the filter alone, will do a oil and filter change at 10K and will keep doing that in the next 300K miles happy motoring!

I will have roughly 1400 miles on my 335i coupe this weekend and I'm changing the oil (BMW 5W-30 and Filter – OEM) at my cost.

The next change will be on BMW in September 2008 (annual) with about 10000 miles on the odometer.

I average about 10000 miles per year so I may change out at the 5000 mile interval and let BMW do the 10000 mile interval for the first 4 years.

I plan to keep this car for 8 years (at least that’s the plan), so I am going to take care of it.
