Rims cleaning - Turtle Wax Rust Remover - Spots/rust gone!
After a year running OEM pads, my rims have become very dirty. I've tried various rim cleaning products but they can't seem to remove the spots and film of rust left by the OEM bake pad dust rusting on the surface of the rim.
Yesterday I tried the stuff I usually use on my exhaust tips: Turtle Wax Chrome Polish and Rust Remover to see if it would work. See the results. BEFORE (these pics are after cleaning the rim with soap and water + brush): ![]() ![]() ![]() Nasty huh? I then applied some turtle wax on a wet cloth and started rubbing. The film of rust came right off without much effort but the spots were still there: ![]() I then used some super fine steel wool (grade 0000) and the spots came right off... ![]() AFTER: ![]() ![]() ![]() After that, I just applied some wax to the rim and it looked amazing. Just go easy with the steel wool, it doesn't take much pressure to clean the spots off.

Good work Gizm0! Have you tried a product like IronX? or Sonax? Both of these products dissolve iron particles without damaging the paint. If this were a common occurrence, I would opt with the chemical solution over abrasives since the wheels are painted. And it would require a lot less elbow grease
