Question Best way to clean wheels?

Anyone have any recommendations for what to use/how to clean neglected wheels? I take great care of my paint but I never spend much time on my wheels. The outside looks fine but behind the spokes it is a grimy mess! It is covered in black residue that won't budge. Any suggestions??

jb, if you are looking to go above and beyond the norm... the best thing you could do would be to jack up your car and remove each wheel and thoroughly clean the front and back. If the contamination build up isn't coming off with normal washing and drying techniques, you can use a wheel cleaner to help break up some of the stubborn contamination. If this doesn't do the trick, consider using some clay or polishing your wheels.

After removing as much contamination as you can, I'd strongly recommend, especially if you are going through the effort to remove the wheels, protecting the wheels with Poorboy's Wheel Sealant.

This will provide a barrier of protection on your wheels that will help prevent the brake dust from adhering to the wheels. For regular maintenance you can simply wash them with shampoo and water and a dedicated wash mitt.

If removing the wheels isn't what you are looking to do, someone posted some information about the White Knight Power Stick which can be found here: http://whiteknightpowerstick.wikispaces.com/ . I'm not familiar with this product but wanted to show you some options.

Hope this helps.

George

I will definitely be using a jack and some wheel cleaner over this Thanksgiving week off. Thanks a lot for your help, I'll be sure to order from you!
