Intake removal and inspection
Ok amigos Im going to take one for the team, I spoke to my mechanic and Im leaving my car for him to take off the intake and inspect the entire engine so I can prove BMW we have and issue with SOOT. First I got to find how much he's going to charge me then see if he wants to also. Also, I want him to take pics of it. Im going to get dyno runs today to see what BMW did to my DDE cause I feel that when they put in the new UREA tank(twice in a year) they remapped my car and i feel I lost a couple of ponies. Wish me luck.

I'm very curious as what will be found. I'd love to see pictures to determine how bad the problem is. My car has 46k on it and I'm guessing when I'll be hitting about 60k I'll need it cleaned out.

A cheaper way would be to remove the throttel plate and EGR valve and look in from that direction. It doesn't tell the story of the intake runners but it is a start. I saw the beginning of CBU when i did this. I hadn't got the courage up yet to pull mine off but will eventually and take it to the car wash and perhaps soak it in a chemical. Opposite order might be more effective. Good luck!

Good job, if more people find CBU then maybe we could have a class-action lawsoot against BMW for intake cleaning.

Ok amigos here's what I did yesterday and I will post pics. First of all my mechanic informed me he has the scope camera and we plan to do that way, more cost efective for me LOL. Second, I went and did dyno runs and before ANYBODY faulks with me let me be clear ok!! the car clocked 3 times the first two times the car clocked 318whp and 424 lbs torque on the wheels the second run was the same basically at 318 but torque went up 425, we rested the car for approx. 10 minutes and we did our final run AGAIN it clocked 318 and 425, third the diagrams Im posting are as follows to read the torque YOU NEED to get ahold of the BROWN cables with the GREY TAG!! ok then you clamp the torque reader. Fourth, I am posting the dyno run sheet and it says 409 lbs Torque, but in reality the car clocked 425 dont know what happened here on the print out but will try to get this later this month since I will begin to travel as of tomorrow. Fifth if some of you remember the temp ambient was approx the same when e installed the thw WAGNER IC last year but we clocked I believe 312 whp but no torque readings, this time I added the CYBA scoops and the SHAEFFER poly lubricant , NO AMSOIL additive or Diesel injector cleaner had been used in a month so I believe the combo of WAGNER IC and the scoops gave a better reading, as we will note the WAGNER IC is doing its job after 3 runs(buy it amigos!!)
I will take pics or video the process but I need a guinea pig or better said someone to post it for me since I will be to busy to edit it. Any voluteers send me a txt msg to 787-459-4518 if your willing to do it and i suggest you better have WHATSAPP cause I will be able to send it to you better, and PLEASE dont bombard me with txts to ask questions,I might not be able to answer instead give me a call ok. Lenny at RENNtech recieved the pics already and will post eventually in there website with Hartmut's approval

We both drive like cocks so I'm interested in this as well. We'll see if asshole driving helps prevent the CBU. I have 66666 miles on my car right now.

Ok just left the CCA Convention spoke to Matthew RussellBMW Product and Technology Communications Manager and he ASUREDme the there is an SIB for cleaning. Also spoke to Dwayne Mosley our CCA Ombudsman which BTW has an X5 Diesel wohoo and his friend is going thru the bs issues I cannot disclose most of the conversation but I was lead to believe BMW is aware and taking steps. I HIGHLY recommend you make yourself of the locall BMW CCA club and voice your concern thru your local chapter and Dwayne. Im going to Orlando for training and I'll try to keep up w you guys ok.

Isn't all the issue with nasty quality diesel in USA? rather than aa fault with BMW?
I've never heard of anyone pulling a diesel car apart in UK to clear gunk out... or you get it a few EGR valve with mild build up and you can clean yourself. (stand by for hundreds of posts telling me different). My Old Omega (where Vauxhall bought in the first 2.6 td 6 pot bm engine did) 140,000 miles and nothing was ever touched on it. Was chipped from 80k and went much better |

my post was supposed to say2.5td 6 pot bm engine.
Does USA do urea injection on diesel?? that's the ones that have real emission control on diesels.... in fact at lunch time today buying petrol I actually saw garage forecourt selling big bottles of urea top up. Never seen that before. 50ppm low sulphur diesel is what u need not 500ppm garbage more to the point what about "swirl flaps" if u want to worry about breakdowns, these little buggers that do nothing worthwhile in the inlet manifold fall off past 90k miles and permanently take out the engine and the turbo's. Later non metal ones without the screws that fall out, (now made of plastic) still break and trash things.... |
