Alternatives to the spare wheel... Tyre Pressure Sensors - New Wheels
I have tried googling this but can't seem to find the answer.
I'm getting new wheels Monday since my car had cracked wheels. I've heard they have sensors to detect pressure loss so is there anything that needs to be taken from my current wheels to be put in the new wheels? Just trying to decide if I need to take a day off work to get this sorted or if I can just get it done and then come back from work and swap the new wheels over. Any help would be greatly appreciated Last edited by GOWRIN; 03-22-2014 at 09:59 AM.. |

There are no tyre pressure sensors as standard. Pressure reduction is determined by the ABS sensors detecting a difference in rotational speed of a deflating tyre.
A full system is available which does have individual sensors in the valve stems but it's a rare option and I don't think ever an option on UK E9x cars.

As xenon said, no physical sensors on the wheels.
More than likely you will get a pressure error on the dash when you have fitted your new wheels as I did but just resest it through iDrive/steering stalk and all will be fine. |

I'm quite sure this is a US thing and not in the UK at all as mentioned above. I had the same thought a few weeks back but found out that our UK models do not have these TPMS sensors.

What is everyone using since the e92s don't come with spares or jacks for a quick puncture/flat fix solution. Any recommendations will be appreciated, rather get something tested.
