Exclamation 335 revs to 6000 and cuts off??

I just bought the car and it has a Procede already installed.
I read through all the manuals and how-to's but nothing says anything about a RPM limit, just the speed limiter and the 2-step.
Any ideas why this might be happening?
It doesnt matter if the car is cold or warm it still does it either way in any gear.

Also when i bought it and put it into any map it threw a misfire when i would get on it, i replaced the bad coil and that never came back.
Is there something to reset on the Procede or is that not relevant?

What do you mean by cut off?

Loss of power? Rev limiter? Check engine light?

You should find out what version procede it is and update to the latest firmware and maps. That should solve any tuning related issues inherent.

Do you have the USB cable to hook it up to the computer?

If you still experience misfires your spark plugs will need replacement. They need replacement every 25,000 miles on a tuned vehicle.

i would remove the procede. and see if that fixes the rev limit problem. Then update your firmware on your procede.

Sounds like what I was experiencing, on maps 7-29 with the procede I would get a big stutter and jerk at redline and throttle closure. On the aggressive 9-10 maps I got total engine shutdown, it just died as soon as I hit redline or close to it. Still had the stutter and jerk on stock map 0, but removed the procede and everything is fine no stutter.

I cleaned & swapped my vanos solenoids and that didn't have any effect, also did spark plugs for a misfire I was having. Has been suggested to me that it could be low pressure fuel sensor. Though I have just pulled the procede anyway.

It cuts fuel and jerks the car but doesnt shut it down, no check engine lights either.

Will connect to the Procede this week and update the firmware.

MJ80 did you ever put it back in afterwards? Id like to solve the problem AND keep the Procede!

My procede died actually, my fault that's why it was removed but the issues now gone without it. Sounds like you have exactly the same issue as I was having, i struggled to find any clear info on it, you can count out vanos solenoids, I didn't try the low pressure fuel sensor. But ill definitely follow this thread because I want to tune again, car feels like a slug now without procede and I kind of fell in love with the complicated interface.

Last night I updated the firmware and maps to V5 and took it out on some runs with autotune on.

I can now get past 6000, still feels a little rough but im guessing it might take driving around in a map for the software to do its thing.

Another suggestion i was given was from someone who had experienced the same thing with a JB4, he was advised to set his AFR values to 0 and turn OFF auto tuning, and he said that totally fixed his issues. i could never work out what to do with my AFR's and wasn't willing to risk changing something like that. But you could be on the right path.

Is your problem lessened in manual mode by you doing the shifting slightly before redline ? mine was much worse if i let the auto shift.

I have a 6 speed.

And i got on it today at lunch and still got some jerking around the 5-6 range. Ill try your suggestion and see what it does tomorrow.

I was hoping to leave on the autotuning since thats the magic in it and the problem was originally happening when it was off, but we will see what happens next.

Which specific map did you update it to? Only the 7-29 maps support autotuning and the majority of users are happier with the 9-10 aggressive maps. Also you may be throwing codes but CanClear may be removing them before you see them. If you continue to get weird drivability issues, turn CanClear off and try and replicate the problem while doing a datalog. That would make it much easier to diagnose. Good luck!

I see what youre saying. I was a little confused about the whole firmware/map thing but youre saying that because i was on V4 with the old maps that auto tuning wasnt available and now it is since i upgraded to 7-29?

Ill give the AFR thing a try and I left canclear off since i upgraded with no codes thrown.

I have to get the car inspected this week so i can get my DPs on so ill wait to try those aggressive maps til after they are on!

If its the same problem as mine, the more aggressive maps will result in a more aggressive jerk/stutter near redline, in fact with the 9-10 maps my engine totally shut down after hitting redline and then threw its first codes about the issue, until i ran the aggressive maps i couldn't get any codes.

I turned auto tune off, still running 7-29, check engine light still comes on randomly but the code is for an O2 sensor in the front bank precat as it always has been. No other codes and still jerks sometimes but not all the times past 5k.

MJ80 what were you saying about the air fuel ratio? Not sure where im looking to change them all to 0.

That was what someone else said to me and it was for a JB4, like i said above, i have no idea what the procede equivalent of that change is or how to do it unfortunately.

Damnit, typed up this whole update and the site threw it out.

Summary:

Made O2 modifier changes, no light for 2 days on map1
Made a run to AC and got all kinds of problems on hard acceleration.
Reset car mid run, switched to map0, got up to 155ish with no problems.
Light came on after work the following day under normal driving conditions.
Have a new O2 coming this week, will put on with catless downpipes this weekend.
Hoping this solves something.
Possible plug replacement soon.

Cant figure out why it wont go over ~155
Possible tune problem? Probable tune problem.

Will update after the weekend.

If the car has been running this poorly for this long, you should seriously consider taking a log and posting it before something gets damaged. Without seeing a log, we are guessing blindly at what the problem may be. Depending on the version of the Procede and the harness configuration, the speed delimiter may not be active. Just because it is on in the software doesn't necessarily mean it is able to be used. There were some different harness configurations depending on a Rev 2.5 or 3 where the speed delimiter input/output was used for meth control or 2 step (I can't remember exactly which it was).

You're right. Ill take some pics of the unit when im doing the downpipes this weekend.
Ill put the new o2 in and make a few runs and hopefully see whats going on.

I bought it with the Procede already in it and have only been doing research since to try and catch up.

Pictures may help slightly in identifying what version of procede you have, but won't really help diagnose any of your issues you are having. Can you contact who you bought the car from to get more information? We really need a 3rd gear datalog. If you are unfamiliar with how to take them, there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum that will guide you through the process. Having the car run correctly and safely should be a higher priority than fixing the speed delimiter at this point.

That's just one of the things on the list but I agree fully.
I bought if off an auto broker who got it at auction so the last owner ill have to try and Mangnum PI.

Ill get a log within the week, hopefully by the end of the weekend.

Put in the catless downpipes this weekend and the new bank 1 O2 sensor.

No codes until I pushed it in map 1 and got a misfire in cylinder 6.
Cleared that and drove around in map 0 for awhile.

Eventually I got 29F4 and 29F5 as well as the 2C3D i was getting before i replaced the sensor.

Im guessing if i turn on CANclear that it will clear those efficiency codes as well as the 2C3D since its new?

Will do more testing in map 1 next week playing around with the coils to diagnose the misfire along with logs and pics of the procede unit, ran out of time this weekend.

So is it still shutting down or cutting out at redline ?
