HELP! 335i Persistent Code P2400
Hi guys,
I bought my car last March 26th, since then the car has had the CEL with the "P2400 code" come up at least 4 times now. I am absolutely thrilled about the car, but seeing the CEL come on just ruins my day... Any help will be MUCH appreciated! Car specs: Stock 2009 BMW E90 335i | 72,XXX KM / 44,XXX Miles The first time (2 days after purchase) I took it back to the dealer he said it could have been a loose gas cap, and so he cleared the code for me and showed me how to "properly" insure the cap was closed after filling up gas... however at the time I had yet to fill up gas since the purchasing the car... weird... 3 days after I got the CEL again, and decided to purchase my own OBD2 reader to scan the code; Again "P2400" I checked the gas cap and there was no way it was loose. Whatever I cleared the code and called a reputable local indy (Rocco @ RMP Motors) to book an appointment for a general check up. Following my appointment @ RMP, I've had the DMTL pump replaced with a used one Rocco had sitting at the shop, as well as fixed some damaged wires connecting to the pump. Throughout the time when the CEL was present/and after clearing I drove the car quite hard to test if any power was loss, none was. The car drove normally. However I did notice that the CEL (code P2400) tends to come on after driving the car semi aggressive... (DS mode) and only comes up after a drive, it has never poped up while driving; 3 times on a Cold Start, and once after 15-20 minutes of being parked. My thought on the matter is to purchase a brand new OEM DMTL Pump + Gas cap, and have both installed, however I would feel REALLY bummed in the event the code was to come back... Has anyone ever had the P2400 code come up constantly as well? What have you done to resolve it, and how much did the bill total to? So far I have spent $300, on this particular matter. $100 OBD2 Reader $200 Indy check up, replaced DMTL pump with used & new air filters. Again I appreciate any input on the matter. Thanks, Michael Last edited by michaelserom; 04-12-2014 at 03:44 AM.. |

It could also be a clogged breather line to the pump. I would verify the lines are good before buying another pump.

Hey OP, it's been a few months, but how are you making out? I started a similar thread back in February, and finally got around to installing the new DMTL pump over the weekend. The next day, took a drive to Newport,RI (roughly 50 mile round trip) with no issues.
The next morning (yesterday), however, I start my car to head to Bristol,RI for an e30 meet and bam, SES light is back on. I check codes and again, the P2400 code is back. So I'm beyond annoyed that it looks like I spent $75ish on a new pump when that perhaps wasn't the issue, after all. Did you end up figuring out the cause of your issue? Need to try and diagnose why I keep getting mine, so I can get rid of my lovely, new Rejection sticker. Thanks!
