jbs2R at moroso results

just alittle backround first. my car is an e90 sedan 6spd manual, sport package, premium package, nav, and satellite radio. only mods on the car are the CDV removed, golf tee mod and jbs2R still on the stock RFT'S when i took the car to moroso before the jbs2, only had cdv removed and golf tee mod. my best pass was a 60'-2.047, 1/8-8.910@80.00 and 1/4 13.779@102.09, track conditions were the same terrible conditions moroso always has, weather was 78 degrees and it was 75% humidity when my runs were made and moroso is at 23ft above sea level. now i went to moroso with the jb2r, i tried to get 100 octane near my house so i could run with the switch on and with high octane to le the dme adapt on the way there, but was unable to get any 100 octane so this did not work. so i had about 2 gallons of 93 octane in the tank and put 4 gallons of 100 octane at the track. tonights weather it was 72 degress and 66% humidity, track conditions were very similiar to when i was there stock.

1st run, 60'- 2.267, 1/8 -8.845@84.59 and 1/4 13.410@103.95
2nd run 60'-2.119, 1/8-8.628@85.19 and 1/4 13.167@105.48
3rd run 60'-2.030, 1/8-8.449@85.91 and 1/4 12.997@107.82

i was only able to make those runs, clearly the car kept running better as the dme adapted. it keep running better every pass, i just wish i was able to get the car adapted before i got to the track to see fully potential. i am very satified for with the results, with less than $500 worth of mods was able to have a 12sec timeslip, i can't wait for cooler weather, and maybe some DR's to get the 60' down in the 1.8 range. but i know it is not 100% accurate to came the before and after due to all the variables but, i did gain .8ths and over 5mph. but i would rather compare the gains on my own vehicle at the same track on a different nights, to see how good a product works.

It has so much to do with the DA also. What were other cars running there? STIs, EVOs, GTOs, 335i,350Zs, etc, etc. If they were running horribly, then maybe 107mph is pretty good. Nonetheless, the performance gain of 5mph in the qtr is excellent, but probably has to do with many factors such as the slightly cooler weather, etc.

Your DA would be 834 feet: at 72F, 30.15", and a dewpoint of 60.1 degree at around 8pm at West Palm Beach airport. Not terrible, and generally better than the tracks around here. But not at good as having a negative DA on a 55F night, either.

no one was really running to good, i only saw a couple of other peoples runs, when you are waiting in line you can not see what the people racing are going, there was an e46 m3, it went 13.9@104, and there was another 335 with xede and active bov, (step on stock rft's) he said he went 13.5@104. also the weather was not that much different when i was there stock it was only 6 degrees cooler and 9% less humidity, so i think it had some benefits but not as much as if i was trying to compare it stock to jbs2r, and the jbs2r runs were made in 50 degree weather with 30% humdity, and since on both times my 60' was a 2.0, track conditions were very similiar also. but if you could do the DA for when i stock for a better comparison i would really appreaciate it. thanks for doing it on these passed also.

Shame that it couldn't adapt more. Many regular JB users on pump have trapped faster. Myself included

You would need to have the barometric pressure on that particular day, AND the dew point. Dewpoint is a constant, and that is why they don't use relative humidity in the calculations. But given it was the same place, and only a few degrees difference, it probably wasn't radically different. I think temp is the biggest enemy of the 335i. I believe it makes best HP if the ambient temps are below 55F. Everything works more efficiently. Congratulations on hitting the 12's. And thats impressive beating the Xede guy by that much. You should have asked him what his best run was ever, to get an indication of how he was running that day compared to other cooler days. Also, I picked up a solid mph from one night to the other, but it was about 7degrees cooler, and I had about a 1/8 tank less. But the facts are, my best run in my car stock was 106mph, and now with the JB2R was 113mph+. That is a improvement of 7mph! It seems to me on my car, a 10hp gain is worth at least 1mph in the qtr mile. I am also wondering what the quality of fuel differences are between 100 octane gas stations. I mean I believe you are pretty safe with fuel from the race track vendor, but these gas stations might have watered down gas that has been sitting in their tanks for months! I hope they are closely regulated. Can you imagine if the gas station accidentally had their 100 octane tank filled with 91, would they go through the trouble of draining it? Do you really think they would tell anyone?

just wondering is your car step or manual? what tires you were on? and what was the temp? yeah i agree others have gone faster with just a jb on pump, but that is why i was gave a backround of what my car did stock in similar conditions, so that way people and judge stock vs moded on the same car, and not what other people did in there vehicles, maybe it is just me but it seams like an auto coupe will beat a manual sedan by about 3 mph stock vs stock.

No way man, you guys are giving the autos WAY too much credit after the launch. I have a 6MT coupe. I was on the 19" 265 generals, it was mid to upper 50s when I ran, and temp definitely makes a difference.

thanks for the info man, but not sure if i understood 1 part of what you said right, you made it sound like the autos have the edge due to shifting (after the launch) the autos cars can leave harder and under boost (they seams to be 60' in the high 1s on the stock rft's and in drag racing (from a dead stock) the first 60' are the most important. that is why i think the auto's have the egde, but shifting wise i am pretty sure we can out shift a step is DS mode if we are power shifting. (i know people will flame me for saying that)

Nothing wrong with getting in the 12s.. with better traction I could see a 12.7@109ish in your future.

So you did 102mph with the JB2, and 107 with the JB2R? That isn't too bad if you ran 98mph stock, which we have seen at the Fontana track. Did you ever time your car totally stock?

Also consider the Xede car ran 105 he said... I think he ran 102.0 stock, 107.82 w/ the JB2R.

yeah i was pretty pumped when i got the 12.997 slip, i am pleased with the gains, when i 1st installed the r switch it felt like it took 4-5 pulls to fully adpat, that is why i was trying to get some 100 octane the day before so that way i wasn't adapting while making passes, but that didn't happen, now i know if i am planing a trip to the track, get 100 octane before you go!!! the r switch is not like nitrous where you just hit the switch and instant gains, it needs to adapt, so hopefully everyone can benefit from knowing that. to bad 15' or 16' wheels don't fit over the brakes, i have a set of 15' DR and 16' ET streets in my garage, right now my rft's still have a lot of life left in them so it might be alittle while before they come off. i would like to see how it runs in some 50 degree air with the car fully adapted. on a side note i would consider the car fully adapted when the mph stopped increasing.

Yeah it takes a couple runs for the race gas and higher boost curve to learn out. I always like to take a few passes on the way to the track. Do you have an exhaust yet? I bet you'd benefit .15/1.5mph with an AA exhaust or similar.

Oh, okay, I see. I thought he had the regular JB2 prior to the "R". Well then, that it almost 6mph faster than his stock run. That is a very healthy gain in itself, considering he only ran 102mph stock. I am sure he will improve his runs even further.

the 102 was totally stock, i went 102 bone stock, then i took the cdv out and did the golf tee mod, and went back, it went 102 again. then i went with the r switch on, and went the 107, no passes were made with the r switch off. i wanted to make passes with the r switch on until the mph stopped going up. then shut it off and do the same with just the jbs2, but wasn't able to get enough passes in. moroso sucks when someone breaks, it takes like an 1.5 for them to get it cleaned up, so there was alot of standing around. and the xede car did go 105, on the same night at the same track for alittle comparison

nope, only mods are cdv removed, golf tee mod and jbs2r, don't really plan on doing to much else to it, it is my daily driver, it is just nice to say i have a 12sec daily driver and have a slip in the glove box to back it up. my "race car" is a fox body mustang with h/c/i and supercharger, hence the 15' DR and the 16' ET streets.

Nice race car! I used to race LS1 FBodies, the Mustang VS. Camaro shootouts were always the most fun. I usually had to outspend the Mustang guys 2x just to keep up with them.

thanks, i know all about mustang vs camaro, my brother had a 98 z28 6spd, it had an air box lid, spec stage 3 clutch and 125 dry shot thats it!!, his car went 12.1@118 with a 2.1 60ft,(4 pass were made all were the same) the junk 10 bolt would only spin one of the et streets while the other one stayed still, it was pretty funny listening to the civic guys talk smack about it while he was doing his burn out, they shut up pretty quick when they heard the et streets churp when he power shifted 4th on the spray and i just explained they reason they could hear the tires churp was because it still had the stock exhaust on the car, talk about a sleeper. and yeah you can go to 7eleven pick up any 5.0 part for $50 with a slurpee. i am all about bang for the buck hence the jbs2r, not wanting to spend over $1000 for similar performance, on a car that i use to go to and from work and go out on the town in.

FWIW -- I know it was a different day and all, but the first time I ran @ Moroso this past June, I ran 13.097sec. @ 106.67mph (w/ a 1.977sec. 60ft.) with PROcede v1.45 (at the time) running on std. 93 octane of course. The night I went, other cars like a modded Evo and a GTO 6.0L were running in the high 13's to low 14's; Moroso is a known "tough" track especially for launches. When I went in June, it was much hotter and more humid than it is now; it was 84 degrees F / ~ 70% R.H...the air was so thick, you could cut it with a knife.

I hope to run in the mid-high 12's @ 108+mph w/ v2.0.2 shortly.

are you going to be running v2 at 100%? and if you do are you going to put any race gas in? also if you don't normally drive at 100% and you plan on raceing with it at 100% i would do it a day or 2 before to let it adapt, just my 2 cents.
