Will a v2 335i hang with a stock 997tt to 120? *video*
Not sure where to post this topic at, since this originated here, so i guess ill leave it here.
Now I know all you guys are wondering how well the 335i can keep up with a 997TT.... I myself was one of the people that said a 335i will never hang with a 997tt to 125mph. So, I had a gtg tonight in mexico with a few friends of mine. They wanted to see if the runs vs the v2 335i and the 997tt in gustavs videos on the m5 board were true... There were a few people that didnt think that a 335i could hang with a stock 997tt in the starting triple digits ( I was one of them). All I can say is from 2nd gear roll. I hold it off till 125 mph because of the 1 CL jump i get... But once that car hits middle of 4th gear, it just comes running in like mad man. Up to 155 it takes me by a good 2CL. If we go from a 3rd, its even worse i can only hang up to like 100-110 mph. Then it just runs away even faster. Up to 155 he gets stuck around 3-3.5CL's. I ran an E46 m3 also, it was a vert with headers, DA software, K&N filter, No cats, and 100 shot of nos. Those were pretty interesting runs... Hes going to be spraying a 150 shot soon i heard. I think its all the weight form the vert + his system that weighs him down. I also ran my buddies stage 3 AA s/c LW/gutted bolt on + meth injection m3. I have the videos but ill post those later if you guys get board... All in all it was fun. I was happy to get even hang with the 997tt till 100-125 mph. That car was amazing...

Still amazing that you can hang in there at around 1/3rd the price. Great vids.

Nice video! That is really impressive to be able to hang with a 997TT at all.

First off, EXCELLENT job Sherwin, you are moving good Brotha!! But your car always impresses me, so nothing new here.
However, the claimed results from the M5board event seemened a little different than Sherwin's pulls with the TT, except the ultimate outcome. Sherwin, in the 1st race the 997TT started late, pretty obvious, happened on a few runs with me as well, he had a hard time hearing the honks. When you guys started at the same time, you would hang for a bit, but the 997TT would walk way before 124 MPH, not the same reported outcome from the M5board airfield event, as they claimed the V2 was CLth's ahead of the 997TT up to 124ish, not the case here. However we have not seen the airfield vids, and it in no way takes away how impressive Sherwin's car is, in fact the consenses was that the 335I's were the most impressive cars last night. Jon's is moving real good as well as Deck's. BTW Sher, love the look of your beast now and always good to hang with you my Brotha.

Nice roads in Mexico!
The 997TT has pretty tall gearing in the first 3 gears and then gets shorter up top which would explain the vids. Still if there was a poseur Yuppie sipping a latte driving the 997TT, expecting to blow off a "lowly" 3 series, he will have a nice surprise.

Nice Sherwin.
I just looked like you'd come onto boost much quicker than the Porsche, but a split second later, whent he Porsche came on boost he started reeling you in right away and past you pretty darn fast. It must of been fun, but man is the Porsche fast. In the last run when you hit your 155 gov. he was like 3-4 CL ahead and pulling pretty hard still. Impressive. I would have thought the P-car would of gotten on boost faster than that. Can you imagine the acceleration of the Porsche if it could send 100% of it's power to just the rear wheels once in third??? Did you put your stock airbox back on? Get a K&N and put that in instead and see how the car feels/runs. Good stuff Sherwin. BTW, what the heck happened with that M3?? Didn't seem like he was using the bottle because it wasn't even close. |

The 997TT AT is faster from a launch. That advantage is negated when starting races from a 40+ mph roll on.
