Help with DDE fault codes
Hi,
I have an efficient dynamics N47 engine e90. It's got just over 50k on the clock and is throwing the following codes which reoccur. I know how to deal with the DPF issue, it just needs regeneration which I can force. And a glow plug isn't a problem. But as they are all DDE related I wondered if anyone has an idea what the overall issue might be and can suggest a course of action. Possible EGR blockage? By the way coolant temp showing as 90.7c so I don't think it's solely a DPF issue. Cheers, codes and summary below. 4A54 - DDE - glow plug, cylinder 2 activation. 4000 - DDE - fuel-temperature sensor, signal. 4BDB - DDE - fuel presupply-pressure control. 4944 - DDE - presupply-pressure sensor, signal. 480A - DDE - particulate filter system. |

Sensible, what are the fault codes subtext/ details ie open circuit/implausible/etc?
What happens when these faults occur? Have you had a recent fuel filter? The fuel temp and presupply pressure are taken from the same sensor I'm sure. |

Hi
Thanks for the reply. Glow plug fault - glow plug resistance outside specification. DPF fault - heavily clogged (exhaust back pressure high) Presupply-pressure signal fault - open or short circuit to positive Fuel presupply-pressure control fault - pressure too high/negative control deviation. Fuel temp sensor fault - open or short circuit to positive. --------- I know the dpf won't Regen if there is a glow plug problem. I've ordered new plugs and I'm tempted to do the control unit as we'll? Are the others related? Cheers |

Ah ok,it's understandable people want to do the control unit too but me personally I would save the expense as it's not failed yet.i would however change all the glow plugs rather than just the one(as manifold has to come off)
The other faults relate to presupply temp and pressure and I have changed sensors before for this. |

If you have access to diag gear you should be able to check the presupply pressure and temps also for plausibility.pressure should be 5-10 bar (if memory serves) and temp should be anything up to 50 degrees with engine hot.

Kris,
Can you confirm these parts are correct for the N47: 13 53 7 809 130 13 53 7 800 602 2nd one I think. Is it a fairly straight forward job? Going to conduct some more diagnostics ASAP. Cheers |

Hi,
So I finally had a few hours and replaced the faulty glow plug. DPF now regens and no DPF error has returned. I hoped this would sort the other issues, however it hasnt. After doing more in depth diagnostic with ISTA /D it shows fuel pre supply pressure at 0.00bar with engine running. I believe it should be 2-6 bar Also, a voltage test across the fuel temp / pressure sensor revealed it was at 0.2mV. Where it should be between 400 - 600mV ![]() The fuel temp / pressure sensor seems to be located in the fuel feed line before the HP fuel pump. ( As you correctly said. Part #1) Am I right in diagnosing this as just a dead sensor? Shorted? If so, anyone replaced the fuel feed line before on an N47? Part number: 13537800670 I guess i'll have to find a few hours to get the manifold back off...sigh. Last edited by Sensible_; 07-02-2014 at 04:24 PM.. |

Certainly sounds it,worth checking to make sure there's a supply a the sensor just in case it's a line break.changed before and not too bad ,you'll need to bleed the low pressure side afterwards.
