Ways of getting a remap removed?
Hi
Other than going to the original company who remapped the car is there any other ways of getting a remap removed from my car? I've heard of BMW dealers accidentally wiping the map during services. My cars due a service in a few weeks and would it be worth asking them to see if they could wipe the map? |

Did you put the map on it? What firm did it?
I wouldn't mention it EVER to BMW, they'll likely tag your car as mapped on their system, void warranties and all sorts. Even if they were cool about it they would want to charge £100's to do it. |

Its been remapped by DMS. I want to get it removed and replaced with a jb4 but it means I have to drive to Southampton and DMS also want a hefty fee to remove the map!

You can easily go into a main dealer and ask for a full control unit programme,I've done this many times.Just say you want all the the modules In the car up to date.Standard programming charge (where I work anyway) is about £150 all in.

Why not call Will at P-torque in Wolverhampton?
He's a top bloke, does all his own BMW mapping and development. I'm sure he'll remove if for a reasonable charge? |

Just don't mention the map to BMW, just say you would like all modules programmed up to date.
There might be an upgrade you're due anyway, in which case they should do it for free if you have symptoms of a know problem. I.e. HPFP upgrade etc. |

The map will more than likely be somewhat "locked" so may be a pain. I had my evolve map removed on my previous bmw as its power compared to my other previous 335i with jb4 was terrible. I payed 100 to have it removed but was well worth it to have the jb4 back.

Yeah. Had to go to them as it was "locked" they other tuner that tried to remove it said without the original file it would leave the car not working properly. So had to go to evolve to remove it as they had my unmodified map.
That where I think ptorque or anywhere else will have issues aswell. With no stock map to replace it with itll n9t work. And using another unmodified map from somewhere ie. P torque will leave you with the wrong chassis information in you dme so will be easily seen it been fiddled with. |

I think you car got flashed via the DME for the mapping your talking about. Therefore you need to have your original file to overwrite the map.
If you have the original file you could use the bimmerpost flash tool with a BT cable and do it yourself. I don't have experience with people mapping my car as I've done it myself.

I also spoke to my local BMW dealership and they couldn't offer much help!

You don't need the "original" DME software file.
Just get the latest factory one put in and that will overwrite whatever is in it now. The 335i MSD81 DME has had about 30 software versions released since 2009, each one can be loaded stand alone on top of any other previous version. No different to when BMW do an "update" on the DME, they just squirt the latest one in, this is how folks maps get "accidentaly" overwritten, except you want to do it deliberately Indies with the proper kit can do updates to latest version, no need for the original one. |

Don't mention anything too complicated to the BMW dealers, their heads will explode if you talk in words of more than 3 syllables.
Just say you want to have all modules upgraded to the latest software version at your expense, don't talk about DMEs or Maps or anything like that. |
